Has there been a post on the TV situation for state wrestling (and basketball)

I saw an article in the paper (either the register or world herald) at work. It sounds like our only option in Western IA is a 9.95$ livestream. Better than nothing I guess but Its kind of sad it isnt available to everybody. It did sound like they were trying to increase the coverage, but due to contracts it may take a few years.

If you don't get CSN Chicago, your only way to watch wrestling will be a $9.95 subscription through TrackWrestling (TrackCast). However, that is only good for the first-round and quarters. Semis and finals will only be available to CSN customers (both via TV and online).

Wow, who are the programming wizards who came up with this?

Following the finals CSN is broadcasting "Wrestling with Iowa", the documentary by Tim Jackson that chronicles Jake Marlin and Brandon Sorensens HS careers... Set your DVRs.

The same ones that don't know enough to seed the State Tournament.
Also the same group that thinks it is a good idea to schedule the dual tournament the day before the traditional tournament.
If your team qualifies then you get an extra weigh in and 3 extra matches the day before traditional state. If your team does not qualify you get to watch your opponents exert energy and risk injury while you get an extra day of rest. If you are a coach and decide to rest your starters and not wrestle your starters then you are threatened w sanctions from the HS governing group. But then again it is a cash cow....

Yet the power is in about 5 peoples hands and all they do is count the cash that rolls in.

Exactly. The politicians in Washington ain't got nothin' on old Beste and his goons at the IHSAA. All they care about is lining their own pockets with as much money as possible. Absolutely despicable human beings.

You should tell them that to their face....and then watch them break down crying because of how badly you've shamed them. Right?

The fellas on 1460 in the afternoons have been talking about how the same folks that bought the broadcasting rights are the ones approving media passes. Scott Casber with Takedown Radio was on one afternoon and acted like he got his turned down. I heard the IAWrestle guys were getting misinformation in what they could and could not record/ post online by these guys and the IAHSAA wouldn't come forward to get it straight either. Several outlets that typically would go and broadcast on the radio for their local guys were turned down as well.
