Has There Been a Thread on ABC Axing 538?

Pretty suspicious they would do that right after Trump's favorability flipped on there.

My guess is this is more about budget than it is about anything else. ABC/ESPN has been under orders to lower costs for several years now.

I could be wrong though, I haven't actually read anything about it beyond that it happened. I'm just speculating.

When you factor in the corporate knee bending recently it doesn't look to be about money in my opinion. Especially because polls are going to be looked at a lot more often now. I know I have been looking everyday when before it was never.

You might be right. Nate seemed to become significantly more biased during the last election cycle too (although I don't see any reason to think his model was intentionally skewing results) and he may have pissed off enough people upstairs to get shit canned.

Moral will be full chis by 2028.

Turn off the MSNBC brother you are going to throw a rod.

P is Q, Q is P.

That graph is missing some labels to provide some context for what it means. Like, what does 100 interest mean?

That's just how Google trends operates on a single query. The highest point will reach 100. If you add additional queries whichever reaches the highest of those will hit 100. I was more showing the recent uptick in popularity, on a zoomed out 5 year the post election bump looks pretty healthy. I guess I'll have to scrounge around on RCP polls again.

When you consider that MSM isn't covering stuff like protests going on everywhere it isn't a great look. Noam Chomsky wrote a book on it called Manufacturing Consent.

Nate wasn't with 538 last election cycle.
He left 538 in 2023 and took his model with him.
Disney hired someone else to make a new one.

In the end, both he and 538 almost the same prediction.

538 had Harris winning 50 out of 100 simulations.
Silver had Harris winning 50.015% of 80,000 simulations.

edit to add: Polymarket had Trump winning at 58% on November 4th. Wisdom of the crowds and all that...

CHANG: Hey. OK, so let's first talk about Trump's lawsuit against ABC News. What was at the heart of that case?

FOLKENFLIK: So this involved George Stephanopoulos, one of the chief anchors at ABC News, one of the cohosts of the public affairs show on Sundays called "This Week." And he was pressing a Republican congresswoman, Nancy Mace, over her support of Donald Trump - the former president, then surging in the Republican primaries back to renomination - over why she would support him given that she had, as she had poignantly attested, been the victim of rape early in life and that Trump himself had been found liable for rape in a civil case. Now, let me be very clear - Trump was not found liable for rape in a civil case. A jury declined to find that against him. What he did find - it did find against him, from an incident stemming years earlier, was that he had - it found - was liable for sexual abuse.

If Trump started suing the people on this forum who called him a rapist, I wonder how that'd go.
