Please tell me this isn’t satire. What an awesome pivot by Iowa to salvage the pre conference action. I hope they pull this off and that lots of programs send kids. Could be an inaugural blessing!

This is not accurate at all. Most of these teams have committed to Midlands 2.0.

Did you skip the first line that says - Remember, going to the Matmen Open doesn't mean you can't also go to the Hawkeye Open - Teams traveling to Chicago for Matmen may find it convenient to come out to Iowa City after

Several teams have publicly committed to Midlands 2.0. Not one has said “BTW, we’re also headed to Coralville for the weekend”.

Feels like Rey has a rooting interest for the other tournament. Not being 100% behind this move by the Hawks says all you need to know.

Hawks are making their own destiny. When others fail the Hawks are stepping up!!!

You have no idea what you’re talking about. I have no rooting interest in Midlands 2.0 and am 100% behind Hawkeye Open. I’m just stating the obvious … most of the men’s teams are committed to going to Midlands 2.0 and will not be coming to Coralville. Not so sure about the women.

You can donate to them, but you don’t know what you paid for
You are paying to watch the Hawkeyes wrestle. To many fans that is really all you need to know. If you need to know who the opponents will be that’s fine and understandable but I certainly don’t find it crazy to simply be willing to pay to watch Iowa wrestle regardless of who the opponents are.

My guess for Iowa:
Ayala, Bennet, Carano, Cashman, Costello, Henson, Kelly, Kennedy, Matthews, Reyna, Robles, Schriever, Schroeder, Simaz, Swafford, Turk, and Ybarra.

I forgot to get online and get my tickets at noon. Sounds like I shouldn't have any trouble getting some though. So is the other tourney still the 29th and 30th? I thought when I saw something for it before the Hawkeye Open announcement, it had moved to the 1st and 2nd too. I'm losing the money for my motel over there, maybe I'd go use it anyway and go to both tourneys. I can't find any info on the other since that first announcement I saw. It wouldn't be as much fun without the Hawks, but I'm a wrestling fan first, and a Hawk fan second. I could force myself to watch four days of wrestling.

On trackwrestling lots of teams listed. Iowa with 35, Iowa Wesleyan 8 and South Dakota st 23. All other teams have 20. To me that means those teams aren't coming. Most of those teams have committed to Matmen open.

There is still going to have Midlands. The event has changed name to “Illinois Matman”. Th event is taking place at the same arena and same time schedule. Northwestern is not sponsoring it. That is only change except Iowa is not in it.

I think Kem might be in there also.

Wondering, Is Northwestern going to it?

The first two sentences are false. So is the last one. As far as the rest…as Jim Gibbons famously said…”No $#(+.” You’re only 2 days late to that party.

I was thinking it is definitely not in the same venue and one not as nice as the Coralville one

If we can get our whole team and 3 or 4 full D1 teams (and backups) it will not be a Midlands but very good for our guys and entertaining. And this would be a perfect size for an early-season tournament of Luther Open.
