Hawkeye recruits weigh in on Lee and Teasdale commitment

I'm not in the know when it comes to Pennsylvania States high school tourney, anybody know whether Franklin Regional and Jefferson-Morgan are in the same class state wise?
I believe Lee is considered AAA and Teasdale AA. With triple A being the larger of the two (bigger schools).

Cool. Thanks guys. Answers my "Is there any chance of them meeting in the state finals if they are they same weight?" question. Next question how many 4 X PA St Champs have there been?

Pretty awesome video on flo showing Spencer Lee's awards and taking a tour of his basement with Teasdale. Sounds like they're best of friends but it seems like their decisions were independent of each other. Teasdale actually says he was the first to say he was going to commit.
I tried finding that video on flo but can't --- is it a premium thing? Can you provide a link?

SoCal, IMO, if not for Lee being in the same district, Teasdale would have wrestled at 120 last Year. While they are in different classifications for districts and states both Franklin Regional and Jefferson Morgan compete at the Powerade Tournament over the Christmas/New Years holidays. While Teasdale is very good, Lee is at a complete other level. Outside of PA, Lee is best known for his success in Freestyle and his 2 World Championships. In HS/Folkstyle, Lee completely dominates all competitors.

For Hawkeye fans trying to project Lee's competitive college weight the following may be of interest. Lee wrestled up a weight class in both his Freshman (113) and Sophmore (120) seasons for team purposes. For both of these years Lee did not cut weight and his walking around weight was several pounds under the class weight. This past year Lee also wrestled at 120 and his walking around weight was several pounds over 120.

Thanks Needanap.
I appreciate the info. While far from an insider I did my best to follow Lee since he was a freshman. I was able to watch the Jr World Championships live and was very impressed when Lee tech'd the Iranian kid in about a minute in the Gold Medal match.

I certainly got the impression that all he had to do this year was be somewhat careful about what he ate in order to make 120. CP even mentioned that Teasdale (113) was bigger than Lee. Which tells me a)Lee could potentially be a career 125 guy, and b)as good as he seems to be when you watch him, he's actually even better than that because he's small for his weight class.

Art. He hovers just over 120. During the season he can pretty well eat anything/anytime he chooses. He has definitely been undersized for all 3 PA state titles. IMO, he is a career 125. In 3 years of high school he has gained about 6 or 7 lbs.

Would like to see him put on another 10 before he steps on the mat for Iowa.

Which just makes his accomplishments insane. My son goes to college in PA, and he was watching Lee's Junior States highlights with his roommate (a track guy who doesn't know anything about wrestling.) When they got to the DeSanto match, the roommate says, "Oh, that kid is from near my hometown. He's insanely good - he's always in the newspaper for being one of the best wrestlers int he country!" Fifteen points and three minutes later, he understood why my son was so excited that Lee is going to be a Hawkeye.

I agree it would be great if he put on about ten pounds; which shouldn't be difficult as he's not ripped like, say, Suriano or NATO and so has room for some bulk.

Art.lowa fans are going to love watching this kid. In addition to his incredible technique he is freakishly strong as well. Above all else the kid is a force of nature when he steps on the mat. He is relentless and doesn't stop until the ref slaps the mat. He is the most driven HS athlete I have ever watched.

Just proves that God loves Iowa. Lee is a talent that Iowa desperately needed to balance the recruiting scales with PSU. We were bummed when Hall committed to PSU. Plus they got Nick Suriano. Now we get Lee and Teasdale to boot. We are at least keeping pace with PSU. Might have even tipped the scales in our favor with the 1, 2 Lee & Teasdale punch. Go Hawks.

No. You are mistaken. Lee and Teasdale are not talented. It's only after they've been "developed" by TnT can they be called good.

See, it's like when Cael brought in some so-so HS recruits including #1Megaludis, #1 Gulibon, #1 Retherford, #1 Nolf, #1 Nickal, #1 McIntosh, #1 Nevills, and before that #1 Taylor and #1 Ruth, and developed them into good wrestlers. Who knows...#1Joseph, #1Manville, #1Suriano, and #1 Hall may also turn into good wrestlers, after Cael develops them.

You are confusing gifted with developed. If you start with a donkey you have a big job developing him into a race horse. If you have a Thoroughbred much easier job developing him into a race horse. Cael is starting with thoroughbreds and developing them. You do make a good point in that nothing is a given. But I like the chances with some of the studs Iowa is getting.

Did everyone turn off their B.S. detector lately?

Looks like you have proven not. BS and HS are still just plain old Sh!t just a different smell.

Stanley...Rossel's post that you corrected him on was pure sarcasm. Wasn't a knock on you, just have seen some obvious stuff get missed haha.

I'll have to take your word that you can smell the difference between horse and bull.

Odd skill.

Hard to see facial expressions or winks unless Minions are used.;) Hey it's all good.

It's great to be a Hawk fan. Bottom line. It's not bad to have PSU to poke fun of likewise. Life is good.:D
