Hawkeyes 5 Top Scorers Against SIUE

Garza........20 pts.
Wieskamp.16 pts.
Bohannon...9 pts.
Kreiner........9 pts
Tousaint......9 pts.

Good to see the bench contribute some points.
Great to see Bohannon on the floor shooting 3's

Bottom line: This team has plenty of offensive weapons and should be at the top of the B1G Ten in scoring again this year.

If both Garza and Wieskamp can avoid injuries we
have a solid one-two scoring punch. With 11 players
in the rotation we should have a balanced attack
which comes off the bench.

I think JBO is going to play , and I really like Joe T. He is very quick and played under control. He will help a lot.

And CJ was solid. I think he only took 1 or 2 long range shots and was deferring to the other guys. That layup on pass from JBo was no easy shot either, but he made it look easy.

Have not been able to see them yet but sounds like the offense is clicking.
Now if they can defend & rebound this team could be special.

I have been very impressed with Joe so far. He is the type of guard we have been missing under Fran.

As much as Garza has trouble on the D end, he is a relentless force in the post offensively. He did just what would be expected against an opponent like that; thoroughly dominated them on the offensive end. One thing I would like to see from him to expand his post game more is to be a better passer to the open perimeter shooters.

Joe W had a relatively quiet double figures. He could have dominated, and they'll need him to have that attitude as the season goes on.

The offensive production is going to rely on these two for the majority of the points.

As with all of Fran's teams of recent vintage, it will be the D end that they need the most improvement. Going from an atrocious level the year before to just garden variety bad defensively was a significant improvement last season. Can they make yet more headway and get out of the cellar of the B1G? Maybe get to 9 or 10 in the league and break into the top 75 nationally?
