What's up with that score, Iowa get a penalty point or something? Had 19 and only went to 24 after Gilman pin.
I thought he looked good. He got aggressive and went for another TD at the end, sloppy shot, cost him the major, but he still dominated the match. And even scored off of his merkle position that hes been hitting more lately. Looked tough, and he gets that tight. I think he could score on more ranked guys with that.
Even injured, Cory is an absolute master on top. You'll rarely see guys take their opponent from feet to back for a near fall like that.
Well, Gilman knows what he needs to do against Lizak. Get the first takedown and the rest is history. Give up the first takedown, and he's in for a dogfight.

Lizak was broke at the end of 2nd period. The only question was did Gilman have enough time?

Carton has to have the NCAA record in scoring moves completed 0.5 seconds after the end of the period.
EDIT: On replay, though, that looks like 2 to me. Wow -- reversal and 2 NF for Carton if he just finishes 2 seconds earlier.

I agree completely. I strongly prefer head, hands, and hips takedown defense over the funk, grab an ankle and roll until you get a stalemate.

That was a clear reversal with .2 seconds left in the 1st period. Not sure how that wasn't overturned.

I worded it wrong. I meant not sure if it was on Gilman or someone on the bench.
I don't think it was a malfunction. I just don't think the BTN feed was available for the ref. Hard to believe whatever angle he had didn't show that reversal, though. It was extremely clear from the BTN camera angle.
Gotcha. I sure didn't see or hear anything on TV that would have warranted it.
