Hawks are hunting them down on the recruiting trail

I'm 98% sure, Teasdale is out. I'm banking we have a better shot with RBY and that's still not very good.

So you're saying there's a chance! I just wish freaking Todd Conner would just say who he's referring to. I know he's boys with Morningstar and is a legit insider.

I hope that we still have a shot at Teasdale, but if not Real Woods out of Monti Catholic, IL or Joey Silva out of Lake Highland Prep, FL would be good pickups. Both are top 6 at their weights this year.

I dont consider teasdale as a possability being commited to his in state program which happens to be the mecca in wrsstling right now. From what I gather from reading on here Silva and RBY are not likely either. Its my opinion that a different option from the 3 listed above is more likely to happen but dont mind holding out hope and will be pleasantly elated if im wrong.

Is everyone writing off Teske then? I know he may not grown into a 133 but the sense is he isn't being considered anymore/people don't want him, but instead want "better" kids?

I think he goes to isu, they can offer him much more I would assume. but would love him in the iowa room.
If he is a career 125 I can see the issue. Otherwise he is a lifelong Hawkeye fan so money shouldn't be an issue. The price of tuition is nothing compared to saying you wrestled for Iowa rather than Iowa State. The gratification you can get for realizing your dream is priceless.

That's easy to say when it's not your money at stake.

It's an easy choice since you can't put a price tag on dreams. Some households value money more though.
What has been getting lost is besides the money, Iowa is by far the best place for his weight class to train in the world. So he can take more money elsewhere at the expense of dreams and likely not developing to his maximum. You are correct it is easy for me to say.

Dreams can be realized anywhere. With all the Hawks at ISU now, I think a lot of kids will rethink their options as to where to achieve their dreams. When ISU was tough, they had some pretty big crowds at dual meets. The sales pitch is restart a tradition and/or watch out we are back. No doubt the Hawks are THE team in Iowa, but ISU is offering some good options as of now.

I also do not think Dresser is thinking he has to win the recruiting battle in Iowa to beat the Hawks. I think he is looking at how do I beat PSU and tOSU and OSU in recruiting etc. Beating the Hawks may give him a good feeling, but I am guessing that he wants to accomplish other things at ISU.

With the resurgence of the HWC, the Hawks may be the team to beat in a couple years. We may be asking the question, "do you guys remember when tOSU and PSU won a few titles way back in the day?"

I know you aren't a Hawk fan so you can have a free pass but you are delusional if you don't think Dresser isn't obsessed with beating Iowa. I would think you are a troll if you didn't have a good history on here with such an asinine comment. Dresser is obsessed with beating Iowa in every aspect.

Prior to worrying about beating Iowa Dresser needs to recruit the athletes the allows him to beat marginal teams like West Virginia that beat them last year on their way to their own bitterly disappointing season in Morgantown, but WVU did have a highlight win and beat ISU, but then they lost for the first time to Campbell University. Again, as I stated in another post, right now its easy to sell blue sky, because they can say we're here and it's different, but once the season starts, the reality will set in and it won't be so easy to market the blue sky moving forward. Zeke Jones did a masterful job of doing what Dresser is trying to do and he took the first year at ASU and brought in a game changing class, but at this point, and there's still time, Dresser and team has not done that yet, so the verbiage is going to get a lot tougher because it will be more reality based in the future than it is now. I also agree, Dresser loathes Iowa, remember the orangy tirade on the interview... He wants to beat Iowa, but he doesn't want to give Iowa any credit, so he talks about PSU etc., it's actually smart on his part..., but so far, the jury is still out. He lost number 1 Verkleen and hasn't signed another HS #1... I think he gets Teske, but that will hurt Teske, because no one has a room like Iowa to develop 125 and 133 and I'm sure Dresser is selling you're a 5-year 125, but in reality there are not many guys that stay at 125 for 5-years. Dresser has proven himself to be a good program builder and he will build that program, but he has many more steps along the way than the fans think and it's going to be a longer process than Dresser is selling and many fans are buying.

I think lookleft is saying Dresser's main goal is to win it all. His comment about not needing to beat Iowa's in-state recruiting means he's willing to to look outside the state at top quality recruits. No doubt Dresser wants to beat Iowa, but I doubt his goal stops there.

ISU can have the recruiting battle in Iowa. We are competing with PSU & OSU. Tom realized a few yrs ago to be competitive with those teams, he would have to recruit heavily outside of Iowa.

Has it been confirmed that Teske is a lifelong Hawk fan?

Can they? I posted the recent 4-timers, and those who didn't go to Iowa didn't fare as well. I'm not saying, just saying.

My god. Get over yourself. Iowa is a distant 4th or 5th best team in the country. PSU and the OSU's are the standard nowdays. Get used to it.

Too many reasons point to Teske not going to Iowa.

Agreed. From my understanding, ISU and UNI have better offers and he would be heading east to PSU if their offer was better. The idea that offer money isn't a factor here is not accurate.

I'll give you PSU, for at least this year. tOSU has potential but my respect and land of winners lay with the Hawkeyes and Cowboys. Hell I have more respect for Cornell in the game. The top perch is very precarious in today's landscape no one can claim for too long.

Top six at a weight in HS would be top 72 or so overall? That's not going to catch the team recruiting top tens pfp.

Strange how Iowa landed the #1 class this year then.

Iowa was #2 for 2017 recruits, behind Cornell, according to FLO.

But PSU had #2 class ranking in 2016 (really #1, but that's another story), with #1 Hall, #2 Suriano and #5 Manville. And in 2018, PSU will finish #1 in recruiting rankings, already having commitments from #3 Teasdale, #4 Beard, #5 Wittlake, #7 RBY, #11 Nevills, and #14 J Lee. 6 out of the top 14 wrestlers p4p - unprecedented.

2017 class is terrific, but Iowa needs to keep it going.

This is somewhat accurate, but there is something much larger in play besides $. Just watch it unfold... The boys at FLO either have zero idea of what's going on in the college landscape right now, or they know 100% more than what they report. If it's the latter, they most certainly are homers to a particular college. Sure hope I know more than them because it would ruin a good thing (FLO) for me.

Intrigued to see how this plays out.

You are absoluely correct. Flow either knows or HIGHLY suspects at the very least, no way they could not unless they really have their heads buried deeply in the sand.
