2 years ago HBOT (HROT) successfully named my daughter, Victoria. The other options were Riley (too trendy) and Alexis (too stripper-y).

My second son, fourth child overall, was born a couple hours ago. Once again, we have 3 names and cannot decide.

HBOT—name my child!

Cooper is the only viable choice...

I shied away from Maxwell due to the Beatles' Maxwell's Silver Hammer:)

I think cooper is about to be played out. I went with max.

As a former teacher the problem with names is they remind you of certain students so for that reason I chose Maxwell.

Voted Max. Personally I can’t stand names that could be male or female (Alex). I at one point worked for a non profit that donated a bunch of stuff to schools and we gave stuff based on gender. Pink for girls blue for boys. It was beyond annoying how many times I would have to reach out and ask if Alex, Charlie, Toni, Jerri and so on were boys or girls.
Might be easier today though because it would all have to be gender neutral because the child decides what gender they are middle school.

Or there might be boys that like pink and girls that like blue. I used to tell my kindergartners there are no boy or girl colors. They are just colors.

They are just colors and have all the right to trade after the fact. But when all you have are blue and pink color options to donate. Usually you want to make sure to give the girls pink and the boys blue.
That’s my personal experience as to why I eliminated one of the names.
You and your kindergarteners could grumble about it all you wanted after your free donation but maybe you should have been teaching them that you should be happy with a free gift instead of crying about the color they got.

Don't take comments so personally. Donations are great and I would have been thankful, but I probably would have let the kids choose the color they preferred instead of deciding for them based on gender.

BTW, they're all really good options, and congratulations!!!

Oh - one REALLY important thing to think about which you probably know already as a father of 3 (as in, it's your job as the dad because it won't cross your wife's mind). You MUST consider - carefully- what the various rhyming and related permutations are that other boys will invoke against the child in his youth. For example, Richard is out of the question for obvious reasons.

Alex - beware of phallyx toward the middle school years, if you expect to use that diminutive form. But if you want to be really cool, you can refer to him as Sasha (the real Russian diminutive for Alexander). The other good thing about alexander is that it's a great "full name" for your wife to address him with when she is angry at him, and of course there's "the Great".
Cooper has its risks when you get near the middle of the alphabet, but it also has great upside in the retorts ("super"). A risk-reward choice.

In the event of a tie, consider which one rolls off the tongue better when preceding your last name.

Says the guy taking a comment I made about why I choose someone’s name on a message board personal and debating my explanation for doing so.
I’d probably choose as many pink items for the amount of girls and blue items for the amount of boys instead of having more pink items than the amount of girls and a couple of boys are stuck with pink items that they dont like and end up throwing a hissy fit.

I'm not the one having a hissy fit and I'm not a guy. Enjoy another day of being constantly angry.

Congrats OP.

Being a parent is crazy, baby 1 you are SO worried and guarded and everything needs to be perfect. Then you realize all you really need to do is make sure they are warm, fed, safe and loved and all the dumb shit doesn't matter. Apparently by thr time you get to number 4 you start letting assholes name the little buggars.

Haha Is this how you teach kids to react when you try to tell them they are wrong and they debate you about it? You tell them to have a hissy fit and enjoy another day of being constantly angry? I hope you don’t live in my school district.

Best early child rearing advice from first visit to pediatrician: "they are not pheasant under glass".
