A friend & I are coming up from the St. Louis area to see the Iowa-Penn State dual on Friday. I haven't been in Iowa City in years. Suggestions for a good place to eat, parking, what to check out before the meet begins? We'll be getting into town around 5:30. Thanks in advance!

if you get to town early enough, you can check out the Iowa hall of fame visitors center, that sort of freaky looking 3 story building on the NW corner of Melrose Ave and Mormon Trek Blvd, about 1.5 miles from CHA as the crow flies. For eating I'd just recommend you go to the Wig & Pen, on the Coralville Strip (aka Hwy 6) that is about a 5 minute walk from CHA, and they have good food and drinks too.
The Wig & Pen is the place to go, but it will be packed. I suggest you go straight there when you get to town so you can get dinner and make it to Carver in time.
FYI, If your not at Wig & Pen or the Vine at least 2-2.5 hrs before start of this dual be prepared to wait 45-60 mins. If your timing is such... go to ped mall for a quick meal and head to Carver
