Kirk Herbstreit was very complimentary of Iowa's football team on Mike&Mike this morning.
He said Iowa is a tough team and Kinnick is a tough place to play at night. He says it will be interesting to see how Ohio State does when they come to Kinnick.

I've always been a fan of the show and like Greeny. When they announced Wingo was replacing him it was just kind of, meh. We'll see. I don't doubt Greeny's TV endeavor will fail miserably, but you can't blame a guy for trying something new and wanting a different challenge after 15 or whatever years. I did also hear Golic was cheesed off by the way Greeny kept him in the dark, and I don't blame him for being pissed.

Playing pro ball qualifies one to be an analyst? The experience can help but they're very different skills. I don't see a correlation.

Called credibility. 90 percent of what ex-player analysts discuss are things you and I and Golic Jr can't discuss. Never been on the field or locker room in an NFL game. What is his role besides being a Golic and jumping over everyone else cause his Dad took a salary haircut? My point is he is a hybrid as far as I can tell and not qualified to be a Greenberg (or someone like that) and not qualified to be a former player who can talk about what happens in the NFL.

I think Wingo will be fine. And Golic is good at what he does. But Jr should not be involved at all. He doesn't add anything. He and his Dad just have a rehersed dialalogue and agree all the time with each other. Adds nothing. My 2 cents.

ESPN is SO liberal these days. I have a hard time listening. DP is really good. Even Cowherd is entertaining.

Cian Fahey is probably the best NFL analyst ESPN has and he never played anything close to professional football. Most of the guys that are analysts that played in the NFL just throw out cliches and blabber on about nothing, like Teddy Bruschi and Herm Edwards. I think guys who didn't play in the NFL usually offer better insight and aren't afraid to talk about what they're seeing, good or bad.
