Tom and I had a short conversation via text or email before the season started about there seemingly being a "Difference" in how these players were speaking, acting and basically just carrying themselves. It wasn't a "chip", it was a weird kind of confidence that we as fans haven't seen in a while. Neither of us could put our finger on it exactly.
After yesterday, and after listening to the interviews, I think it's become obvious and I think its something Tom picked up on as well:
They are a team. They are playing for each other. They pick each other up. They have faith in all three aspects and know that if one is down, the others will reach out and give them a hand. They are much, much, much closer than any Iowa squad I've seen in a while. Maybe since 2002. That was a really tight team.
No, not saying the results will be the same, just an observation.
