Hield and Ulis

The best guards in the country! Oklahoma was toast until Hield took over and Kentucky may have a losing record this year without Ulis.
Trimble is almost at that level, but who am I missing?

Morris should be in the conversation somwhere.

There are others depending on what you are looking for, but those 4 are the top I can think of for overall guard play (Scoring, Ball Handling, Passing, Closing, Etc.)

Ah, yeah, can't believe I forgot Dunn, given the press he has gotten. Paige really hasn't seemed to get a lot of press given the season UNC is having.

I would guess there are a couple guards in the PAC12 that I just haven't seen play due to time zones too.

Ulis had a great overall game, but had a couple crucial TO's down the stretch. Pretty exciting game between the two winningest programs of all time.

Seeing Ulis play several times in high school, I absolutely knew the kid was legit, and was gonna end up being a complete stud.

I, along with Fran was pretty much devastated when the kid kissed us off. Not a doubt in my mind we are the favorites to win the national championship this year if Ulis is our PG.

"Not so fast my friend!" So you are saying that Ulis is better than Mikey G?

What if page was a hawkeye!

I think both Paige and Yogi are getting every bit of mileage they can out of recruiting rankings. Yogi is THE BEST stop and pop PG in the country, but I don't think his overall game is that great. He struggles to make others around him better. Paige seems like he hasn't been right all year. Maybe the injury from early on is sticking with him, but he's in a prolonged slump, and I just haven't seen him take over games like I would have expected given the expectations.

Both are good players and can be key pieces, but Dunn and Hield can do literally whatever it takes to win.

Yeah, but I give Paige a pass because of the new coaching change that was happening, plus he didn't really want to step on Mike's toes I don't think.

We should have said, please, step, step...

Buddy Hield is the front runner for the national player of the year but he isn't Oklahoma's point guard, Jordan Woodard is. Hield is Oklahoma's shooting guard though he gets quite a few assists.

Seems strange for any player to be the national player of the year and not be projected to be drafted until #7 in the NBA.com 2016 mock draft and Hield is even the second shooting guard named. When Doug McDermott was the player of the year he wasn't drafted until #11 I believe.

As for Marcus Paige being one of the best point guards. I thought maybe he had been moved to shooting guard but maybe not. Paige isn't one of the ten finalists released Monday for the Bob Cousy award which is the award for the best point guard in college basketball. North Carolina has kept winning even with Paige's slump but they hit a road block Monday night and lost to Louisville. The game story said Paige has only made 5 of his last 36 three point attempts so that is a major slump. I hate to see that happen to any player especially one who has had such a fine career.

I think all the other point guards mentioned above are on the list though.

Release: 02/01/2016
Bob Cousy Award Finalists
Kyle Collinsworth, BYU
Yogi Ferrell, Indiana
Monté Morris, Iowa State
Tyler Ullis, Kentucky
Melo Trimble, Maryland
Demetrius Jackson, Notre Dame
Khalil Felder, Oakland
Gary Payton, Jr., Oregon State
Kris Dunn, Providence
Nic Moore, Southern Methodist
