Sucks, but not surprising. Those awards are as much a reflection of the team's success as the individual player stats. The fact that we are a middling 7-4 doesn't help him. If we were 9-2, probably a different story.

Totally asinine that he once again isn't a finalist. Dude is the best there is at his position. Can't believe he was snubbed again.
Bull is correct as what other metrics can you look at for a lbkr. Tackling is metric number 1 but I suppose maybe some other lbkrs might have more for loss or no gain. He has the 4 INTs and is good in coverage also.
He is the epitome of gritty and hard nosed.

Only explanation that can make any possible sense is that they're going to change the name to the Higgins Award and he's going to present it.

Unfortunately this is correct. His measureables will drop him. Maybe a third rounder?
I'm sure Jay will get drafted, but I'd bet it will not be as high as people here would think. He's older, which is a strike against him for the pro's. He's not the height/weight proportion they look for. Not sure how he'll do in the testing at the combine. Now if they were just looking at a guy who knows his craft, lays it all out there, and is a leader, he's be a high draft pick.

Yes, need to play in something important and not lose 0-35 vs every decent team. Actually, the UCLA kid looked alot better, kid had major impact on the game. Higgins was just out there.
Too small, not real fast, very limited in pass coverage. Much better out there. UCLA kid is much better prospect.
I agree. I think he'll go later, and someone will be rewarded with a good football player in the 2nd day....
But pretty much everyone makes the “watch list” at the start of the season. Hell, I think a couple posters in here were on that list.
the Oklahoma kid and the kid from UCLA play on teams with worse records so the winning team arguement is bullshit. That UCLA kid is a stud tho and deserves to be there.
