Anyone else have hinges on downspouts? I have a large yard to mow with a several out buildings. Before I mow I always remove the downspout extensions so that I don't have to mow around them. Of course that means after 3+ hours of mowing I have to reattach the extensions. Today I started putting these Zip hinges on my downspouts. Hopefully they will be as time saving as I think they will be. Does anyone have experience with similar products?

Had them at one time, but the flimsy tin tends to break where the pins are in place.

Now I have stone run offs that go about three or four feet so I don’t need the extended gutter.in one spot in the back I ran a line underground about twenty feet, so the run off doesn’t go onto my patio.

I was worried about their sturdiness. The extensions around the house are landscaped so they don't have to be moved, but the extensions on the farm sheds are a different story. Since the hinges are relatively inexpensive I won't mind replacing them if they do the job and at least last through a summer.

I have these in vinyl replacing the elbow and the extension. They simply slide up over the bottom of the downspout. Come in white and brown and are length adjustable. Mine are 3 years old. Easy peasy.

Do you have a link for the product you use?

I have exactly what is shown first in the clip.
piece cut out of top of the extension.
10 years now and going strong.

I have them and my down spouts have magnets so i can lift the extension up and it magnetically sticks to the downspout until i fold them back down.
These come with a clip, but magnets would be a great option.

Drill a hole through all 4 pieces and put a 4" or so small bolt through and nut the threads or you can use #9 wire and stick it through and bend the ends down. You need to cut back 3 or 4 inches on the extension so that it will fold up ok. I then have a plastic coated heavy duty wire that I use to hold the extension up close to the down spout. It's only lasted :) 32 years so far.
