A high school friend of mine who has a pretty high up position with the company told me on the phone tonight that the HNI/HON is shutting down a plant they had just opened within the last year in Mexico.......and moving the jobs back to the USA. He said it was directly attributed to the tariffs that Trump put in place. I wonder how many more companies will do this.

Any update from your buddy?

Hi, I gave you 24 hours to check with your buddy from high school. When will they announce they are shutting down the brand new plant in Mexico they build, and bring chair production back to the US?

I have a friend who was instrumental in setting up the plant in Mexico. He said at the maximum proposed tariffs they'd have broken even on goods made there. Worst case they might shift a little production to the US temporarily, but the plant in NC they just closed, and replaced with the plant in Mexico, will not be reopened. The labor costs were too high.

Same shit happened in a plant in Frankin PA. that made harnesses for electricans.and climbers They made the products in Mexico, then sent them back to sew, made in the U.S. on them.

He either made up this buddy, or Hawkman is the kind of voter who swears that Trump brought coal jobs back to WV in 2017 by his shear force of will.
LOL, I never even saw these questions from you and I don't stay logged into HR like you apparently do.

I did not make him up and I don't get to talk with him mas much as I would like. His shcedule is way different then mine. We are in different towns and have been for many years. But, he we did connect a couple of weeks ago and he said those jobs are still coming back. He did not give me a timeline. And, since I don't work at HON, I can't give a timeline by myself.

Sounds legit.

Oh, okay. You seemed pretty confident when starting this thread, however. You probably should have mentioned this is some guy you don’t actually talk to much, and have no idea if he is credible.

He is very credible. But, it is true that we do not get to connect as much as we would like.

Hey Hawkman, I believe you are just relaying info you were told, and I get you would not have all of the details. Your friend could compromise his position by doing so, but any more details would be interesting to hear if he does give them to you. It would be a sign of progress and bringing back factories to the US is never a bad thing in the long run.

Unlike some on hear and in the real world, I want whoever is elected to do the best job possible, whether I voted for them or not. Not doing so is the opposite of how we as Americans should act. Rooting for us to fail just to put your party in a better position for the next election, is just digging the hole deeper for your candidate even if they do win, and keeps our country sliding even more long term. If we want to be leaders of the free world and enjoy our freedoms that many other countries typically have envied, both our politicians and citizens need to start acting like we've been there before and be the right type of example.

And no I am not saying I agree with everything the last two Presidents have done, but I also don't disagree with everything that both have accomplished, or tried to, either. Now laugh away all of you far-left and far-right on here, but you are most likely who I am talking about at the same time.

Thanks, probably could have posted it in about 90% of the threads on here, but chose this one for whatever reason.

This place, even though I didn't post much, was always a good place to come to during work or whenever to get caught up on current events, but still had a variety of topics, with a lot of people who were both humorous and intelligent at the same time. Now it's just hate and real mocking (not the just giving each other shit type) in almost every thread, and sadly a lot of our country is the same way. They just don't always say it as openly because they aren't hiding behind a keyboard. We all need to be better, or it won't only be the US that goes downhill, but everywhere else also.
