Hockenson named first team mid-season All-American by USA Today

Hockenson is really coming on strong this season. He's the best TE on the team. Iowa needs to send their fixer down to College Station to 'deal' with their TE. Then we will have 1st and 2nd team AA TE wrapped up and they can share the Mackey Award.

Sometimes I wonder if folks forget that Brian Ferentz coached the Gronkowski/Hernandez TE duo in New England that ended up setting records and going to the super bowl that season. Just my humble opinion but I think the Iowa faithful should be sold on BF and excited for him to eventually take over for his father. Could be a dynasty in the making boys!

Edit to say: I wasn't as sure about BF coming into the season but that feels like yesteryear.

I love Hockenson, and obviously people are frustrated by the notorious comments made by Fant’s family member, but it seems pretty obvious that Hock is benefiting from the extra attention that Fant is receiving from opposing defenses. It’s not rocket science.

OR, maybe Fant is benefitting from having another TE on the field who is as talented as Hockenson. Double-cover Fant if you want, but Hockenson will make you pay. And vice versa.

It's a beautiful thing for the Hawkeyes to have the two best TEs in the country...with all due respect to the youngster at A&M, of course.

Don't say that .... you're not counting how superior his blocking is compared to all other TEs, living or dead!

(disclaimer - zombies have been taking great offense to this post of mine)
Chase Allen will never have the stats of any Iowa TE ever, he is the 6th or 7th best receiving option on his team and no other team in modern football uses the TE for receiving as much as Iowa does. I bet there are more FBS teams that end the season with fewer than 200 yards receiving for their TE’s than there are that surpass that.

Having one tight end that can run posts or deep slants is a luxury in college. Having two that can beat safeties or OLB's every play is insane. Plus Hock's catch at Indiana in the end zone put his draft stock up 2 rounds, the pancake block .5 more. He is playing at a Dallas Clark level, dare I say. Fant is insanely good and has a better top end speed, but Hock is DClark reincarnated. 'The Tight End is ahead of the field!'
