I am just going to come out and say it.......I think Hockenson is underrated and every bit as good as Fant........Not taking anything away from Fant at all but I think they are both going to be very good NFL tight ends........

Not sure how he would grade at the combine but yeah hopefully won’t be projected high enough to leave.

Incorrect. He redshirted his first year. This is his 3rd year, same as Fant. And I hope he comes back next year.
Hock can make it in NFL. Brandon Myers, Chandler, Dallas Clark, Moeki, Kittle, and that 6'7 guy out of Illinois that plays for Texans. Even Reisner got a sniff. Iowa is not OLine U because our run blocking usually is not good, but Iowa is TE university.

The broadcast said he was a true sophmore, so he couldn't declare. They are wrong.
He doesn't have the speed and leaping ability of Fant, but Fant is an all-time freak with the 42-inch vertical. Hockenson can still move very well as he showed today and blocks like you know what. Seems like the type that wants to put in another year at least. It is such a wonderful thing to have both of them, they complement each other so well. Fant gets so much attention when he's on the field and Hockenson on a LB or safety is just easy money.

Hock is the better all around tight end. Not much debate about that IMO.
CJF had to retire from the Texans for concussions. Was doing well the season before he hungry them up too.
The Hock has quickly become one of my all time favorite Hawks. Great hands, tough as nails, and did you see that block? Bravo!!!
I believe both are way under polished - and need more time in the Iowa system to be even marginally accepted for a try-out for NFL. Everyone please be patient - they will eventually be good enough when they graduate.

Hockenson is one helluva football player. I don't tweet, but maybe someone who does could tell the Fant family Noah is pretty good, but he's the second best TE on his own team. And that, my friends, is a fact.

I don't think there is a TE in the NFL that can run by corners like Fant does. He is a special talent. He's more than pretty good.
I honestly think they both should be in consideration for All American status and the Mackey award by the end of the year. Thay are that good and their numbers will be up there with the way Stanley loves them.
Love them both. I know we have two stud TE recruits on board already but we need to make sure future TE recruits see today's game.

As they often are. Its funny because we watch Iowa games, and most of the posters here know more about the players, so we can spot these mistakes. Makes you wonder when your watching other teams play, just how much of their comments are total BS, like when they profile our players.
Can’t we just appreciate both of them and be happy they are both Hawkeyes?

I think TJ right now is every bit as good as Kittle ever was at Iowa. Injuries aside, he will play in the NFL for a long time.
I think Iowa will be looking to replace two tight ends after this season. Or maybe T.J. will hold his arm in a funny position a couple times so NFL scouts will mark him down and he will lose 40 draft spots for some inexplicable reason. Then we get to hear about how this Iowa player came out of nowhere to be a top NFL rookie.

Your kidding right? I mean, yes they still have things to work on, but both of those guys get drafted in the first three rounds if the draft was next week, and there's no debate. Trust your eyes. Fant is an athletic freak, and he goes in the first two rounds on sheer potencial. Hock may end up being the BEST all round TE who has ever played for a school where virtually EVERY TE who starts for at least a year, gets at minimum a cup of coffee in the league. Hell Eric Jensen who was a converted FB was in the NFL for a couple of years. The success that Kittle is having currently has only shown a brighter light on the position for a school that has a reputation for producing quality players at this position.
