Gilman needs to learn that attacking first is the only path to championship.

I think what we saw there was a kid who had the "eye of the tiger" which is what Iowa wrestlers used to have. NO one is afraid of us anymore. Our kids wrestle passive, afraid to attack. I really miss the gable years right now.

Gilman's mo has been slow starting all season. I wonder if we scouted this kid from WV or not? Not ready to go.

exactly what i was thinking, and that was after dan dennis told the coach Slaton couldn't go 7

I don't want to be too hard on Thomas, the kid's a warrior for sure. That said, his downfall when he loses, is he does absolutely nothing from his feet in the 1st period. He and Brandon Sorensen are a lot alike, they both CAN be deadly from their feet, are good sized for the weight class, and basically don't have to take shit from anybody. But both come out like they just got out of bed.

Gilman just found out the hard way why you get after people before they get after you. I hope it's a lesson he remembers for the rest of his career. He made the end of this tournament one hell of a lot more difficult than it needed to be, that's for sure. Bummer for sure. Hope he keeps his head up and comes back with a flurry.

Everyone gave me s$&t when I said Gilman will never win it because he can't win when it matters. Idc about some midlands win where he wasn't the starter either. Kid needs to wrestle every match like he does against the 25th ranked guy in the nation.

Certainly didn't think we would see 2 freshman in the finals at 125 this year considering all the talent at this weight class.

And I choose to give it to you now. He lost but has shown he can compete and beat the best in class.......Nashon, Dance, Tomasello, Delgado...........anyway, he's as SOPHOMORE an no, he's not winning it this year, but do you really want credit picking the field against him. He's won multiple world team spots and at least one World medal.

Dude, semis his sophomore year (first national tourny). Beat the third seed in quarters. Has 2 years left to win nationals. Will you come back to eat your crow if he proves you wrong? I just think you are a bit quick on the draw and maybe overreacting a bit.

Truer words were never spoken. That is quite amazing.

Can some of you people even comprehend how dumb these posts are? This board is a complete embarrassment right now.

I would have a hard time saying that to Telford's face but Gilman? I have a couple bags of dog food at home that weighs about the same as he does 😊

Hawknado hasn't posted anything but troll posts. You got to remember, the trolls like to come out of woodwork after every loss.

Thomas has won a lot of matches that "mattered". It takes him awhile to get going on occasion. This particular match was an aberration. He found himself in a bad spot and couldn't get out if it. He's not the first, won't be the last. As previously stated, the kids a warrior and he's done some really good things and will do more.

I do wish he picked up the pace from the get-go. He's got all the ability in the world to make whatever he wants to do work for him. Bummed for him big time the way it went down for sure.

Bingo. This is the problem from my point of view. We used to take guys that couldn't even win their own high school championships, but a few years later could win the national championship because they were a different breed.

Gable wanted guys that if they didn't the national championship, were on borderline suicide watch....a different breed.

Not one senior on this team seemed to have that mindset. Evans, for example, couldn't have wrestled for Gable. Stalling was not accepted as a means of trying to win.
