As they push to win control of the House in the midterm elections, Republicans have released a “Commitment to America” platform that lays out in broad strokes what their agenda would be next year.
The agenda, which is short on specifics, is broken out into four categories: “an economy that’s strong,” “a nation that’s safe,” “a future that’s built on freedom” and “a government that’s accountable.”
In many cases, policy goals are stated broadly, such as, “Increase take-home pay, create good-paying jobs.” In other cases, there are more details, such as, “Support 200,000 more police officers through recruiting bonuses.”
House Republicans are planning to hold an event Friday in Monongahela, Pa., to promote the plan.
On Thursday, the GOP caucus released a campaign-style video featuring House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as well as a web page that provides the plan.
