How bad is our 2020 class?

this statement is the weird part about recruiting. I mean you like them but no other major coach likes them and they have seen them against other guys. If Fran has a habit of signing unknown players I would get it. Some are bound to be under the radar but no way out of five players you might get one that works.
Personally, as a rule of thumb, I think it may be a good idea to not trash our recruits until they at least prove they aren't worthy of their scholarships. And even then, we're talking about young men, who all hope to have promising careers and have chosen Iowa to make their stand.

114 4* seniors and we can’t land one?!?! Hell, Butler has two! Not recruiting white guys is a start, but we won’t be competitive until we get more 4* players. I didn’t mention the 5*s as I don’t think we’ll land a 5* b-ball player in my lifetime....it could be the University presidents son, and he would go elsewhere.
I was just giving you some grief. I’m with you, shockingly, that Fran has no excuses this far into his tenure to put together a class like this. Not one top 150 player? A class with very few P5 offers? Nah, that’s simply not going to cut it in the B1G. Those arguing that stars or offers don’t matter.....that’s denial talking.

Of course not! Would you want to be held responsible for everything your parents ever did? How is that fair to the McCaffery kids? They are simply living their dream to pay basketball for their dad.
Jake Kelly was pretty solid too, but I wouldn’t consider them Lickliter’s recruits. All three, plus Gatens were Alford recruits.
Lick did have a decent class coming in when he was fired, but Brust had already opened his recruitment up and had no plans of committing to Lick. The same could be said for Larson.
Who else are you looking to throw under the bus? I've heard the AD, the coaches, some of the recruits, etc. Seems some on here are forever bitchers and always needing to fill the glass to overflow. I was remembering Veterans Day earlier this week and all those millions of vets who served and many died so we have the freedom to to say almost anything we choose using whatever media available, and usually in complete anonymity. For over seventy years I've been a Hawk fan in good years and some not so, whether at bowl games, the baseball diamond, the track and in Carver for bball and wrestling, etc.
And for all of it, I've enjoyed the ride and look forward to continue this entertainment.

I'm actually highest on Perkins at the moment... He has some ups. We will see... Very intrigued about the twins. The growth spurt is a very good thing. I'll be following them at DME.

Productive . . . wow, I gave you a thumbs up, but right now we are looking at least 1 NBA likely 2 out of this class. This went from from a fireable class to one of the top 10 recruiting classes potentially in Hawkeye history.
Crazy to think we were bitching about missing out on Carton the year before who played 47 games total in college, and Foster in 2020 who played 7 games total in college.
I don't know if Josh will ever amount to much in his time here. But that 2020 class has given us one superstar, his twin brother that should develop into at least a multi-year starter, and two guys that are at least decent substitutes already as sophomores. And I don't really expect any of the four contributors to transfer out.
Meanwhile ISU's recruiting class only has 1 out of the 4 recruits still at ISU. 2 out of the 7 if you also count the transfers they brought in.

There are quite a few posters in this thread who have gone into hiding until there is some sort of downswing in the program. Remember them if you can because their opinion is worthless and should be ignored.
I am all for not getting too high not getting too low. The one thing is for whatever you think of McCaffery, he has an eye for talent. I don't think he will ever take a team and win it all, however, he will always have his teams play well, and will have enough talent on the court to put a good product on the floor. Much better than we had in the Lickliter years, and for people to compare any class to the Lickliter's class like in this thread is ridiculous.

Legend was able to ferret these types out. I suspect that if RaptorDick pops up again under a different handle, Legend will out him.
It was pathetic. He could recruit talented players but couldn't put together a team.
