How could Caitlin Clark not be NPOY?

As I recall back in 1985, it was reported that some Michigan reporters voted for White?, a running back for the Heisman, who had no chance, instead of Long.

The window for sending in ballots is also a factor. There is something like six different major POY awards. How many voters sent in their ballots before the NCAA or before the Elite 8 games?

Imagine the national outrage if she doesn't win the NPOY?
I’ll write my congressman if she doesn’t win. Haha.

It would be truly absurd if she didn’t win, but it was absurd last year when she didn’t. Stats wise, there really is no debate.

Caitlin is the biggest brand in college basketball right now. ESPN is negotiating a new tv deal for the women’s tournament, one would think they’d want to market the player with the biggest brand as the best player in the country.

Branding and stats wise she should win. Branding aside she should still win. There is a small vindictive side of me that wants them to announce Boston as player of the year before Fridays game. I think watching Caitlin play with a chip on her shoulder would be a sight to behold.

My opinions are uneducated and best ignored but all season I have thought POY to be locked up by Boston the way ESPN has seemed to push their player. Now it seems like ESPN talking heads are all admitting the obvious truth......CC is the POY!! I have only watched one SC game, the UCLA game, and Boston did not look good. Many times she didn't even attempt to get back and help on O, looked more like their 8th women than the countries #1.

Answering part of my own question, for the Wooden POY award, “Voting will take place from March 14th to March 21st and voters take into consideration a player's entire season of play, as well as the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament. The finalists for the 2023 Wooden Award presented by Wendy's will be announce on March 29th.”

So the votes have been closed for awhile, missing some of Clark’s best moments.

I'm on your side y'all so don't hate me. But I truly don't know where this idea comes from that ESPN gives Boston more coverage than Clark. It's been pretty much 50/50 as far as I can tell this year. ESPN doesn't want a single front-runner. They want 2-3 candidates that they can push to drive up debate and viewership of all their games. This year that's been Clark and Boston mainly, with Angel Reese peppered in. The only WBB analyst I've heard who has unequivocally said Boston is her POY is Carolyn Peck.

Clark has gotten (more than) her fair share of the pie! And I'm happy for her.

Whomever did the SC/Mary game was clear....last years POY and the leading candidate to repeat.
Also the officiating got ESPN the game they want Friday.
