Not sure how the Hawks were able to go into NYC and get Joe T. It’s a place where they never get players. Can we do it again?

Only the second player from the state of New York if you count Basabe, so 2 players from New York in 10 years, disappointing to be sure, expected more because of his east coast history...

Do not understand this fascination with joe— fast is about all he brings- not a shooter, not crazy assist numbers. Isis just he is not Jordan- who by the way set records in 3’s and assists. So many fake “experts” on here

If I remember the Hawks had their eggs in some players basket that went elsewhere. I was think Toussaint was a fall back/late pick up.

Joe plays really tough man to man defense. He makes some mistakes with the ball when he tries to do too much. He is finding his comfort zone with his shot. His assists are valuable and he doesn't get a whole lot of playing time to get it all done.

He's a true point guard and he will be valuable going forward.

Yeah Joe actually can play defense and doesn't let defenders shut him down on the dribble drive.....completely different skill set than Jordan...because he could not do either of those at all

I think you'll see a different Joe Toussaint next year. He showed last year that he can deliver on the offensive end as well as on defense end when he get's the minutes and had a decent assist to turnover ratio.
He's fighting minutes with a senior that has Iowa records in assists, and 3 pointers made and a high assist to turnover ratio himself and is deserving to be the man with 4+ years of experience. Whether posters on here believe that or not.
Anywhere there's from 2 to 9 games left in the season, I'm going to enjoy every minute of what's left of Luka's and Jordan's remaining career at Iowa.

Best assist numbers on the team by a wide margin, but maybe that isn't "crazy" enough for you.

He also picks up his dribble 26 feet away from the basket more times then jbo too.....

JoBo can play D and can drive and dribble past good defenders. He has done it several times this year. He just doesn't need to do it to score.

Joe T is a good player who still needs to let the game come to him. He seems to be improving, he just needs to do it consistently. If he doesn't, Ulis will pass him in the rotation. Ulis is that good.

Bohannon’s actually been playing really solid defense the past few weeks since Iowa has gone to man which, given that it has always been his biggest weakness and that he’s less prone to mental mistakes, has made him the obvious choice to continue logging the majority of the minutes at point (imo)

However, Toussaint is also deserving of substantial minutes. Watch defenses the next time he dribbles into the lane, under the hoop, then curls back up to the free throw line. He can do off the dribble what normally takes several passes to accomplish in terms of getting defenses out of position on offense, and forces turnovers with high intensity in on ball and help defense. He’s going to be more than ready to take the reins next year

I don’t know why you’re bringing up Jordan. They are completely different players. Both bring something to the team. I am no expert but I know defense is an important part of basketball, but you seem to be only interested in offensive stats.

A bit unfair to compare JBo to JT right now. I love Jordan, but one of the factors in his records are longevity, how many guys play meaningful minutes all 4 years or more than 4 years! JBo joined a marginal team (NIT) as a frosh then look at the roster when he was a soph (same as Joe T), not exactly much competition at guard. And a pretty crappy team to boot.

I have been very critical of Toussaint and believe Ulis is a better pure point guard. But Joe has started playing better at the right time and we need him to succeed for us to go far.

Fran speaks Creole. Told JoeT’s mom about the pork in Iowa. Sealed the deal. #HaitianSensation

Yeah, Jbo does stuff Joe T can't and Joe T can do some things Jbo can't. I'd love to see more Jbo Joe T time on the floor. WIth Weezy hurt maybe we will.

I like Joe T and think he'll be good going forward. He brings sorely missed athleticism this team will need in the years to come.

Guess you don’t understand basketball then.

Or, why is it you have to go all the way to NY to recruit a player when you only need 2-3 each year?

JoeT and his style of play will be more valuable next year when Luka is gone. Bohannon and his shooting works great because it opens up and limits the double team on him this year. But with him gone next year have a driver/slashing player will help free up more shots for other guys.
