This has probably been discussed but I could use your help. I've been trying to get tickets to the Big Ten Championship game but find everything being offered well beyond my means. The Stub Hub prices begin at around $180 per and a decent seat is well into the $200-$400s. Will non-season ticket holders have chance through the University? Is there a mechanism to buy direct from the stadium? My family were season ticket holders for more than three decades before they got priced beyond our means. I now reside in northern Indiana and would like one more chance to see the Hawkeyes in person. Not seeking handouts - and I would appreciate being spared the snarky remarks that if I can't afford it I shouldn't go. Just a long time fan trying to see a team I've long been proud of.

One option is to attempt to buy from a scalper right at kick, or just after kick. You miss a bit of the game but can usually get a good deal. But you run the risk of getting shut out and scrambling to arrive at a bar at the end of the first quarter.

I would think tickets will become plentiful on the open market once MSU/Michigan/Wisconsin are officially eliminated, but then again we've never "been there before" so it's impossible to act like it on any future portion of this ride.

If it's undefeated Iowa vs undefeated Ohio State, as things currently stand a #3 vs #5 match-up, ticket prices will be sky high. Ohio State will be carrying that nearly two season-long winning streak, and Iowa will be in the midst of it's winningest season in school history.

That game could be for the Nat Title! Probably the 2 best teams in the country.

Couple, friends of ours, badger fans here in Wisconsin were tickled to get championship tickets last year...TV would have been a better option...after the first quarter was over...

Hope you find some...

Hope for OSU to lose. Otherwise hope a iowa season ticket holder will buy and then not need. Face is $80 and they do give the schools some decent seats.

Don't panic, there will be a bunch of tickets on the market after it's sorted out of who plays who. Ohio State, Michigan St., Michigan and others have probably bought them up along with Iowa fans. Ticketmaster is the official seller and still have a few tickets left (albeit singles) in the top section and the end zones from $70ea-$90ea. Try them and scalp up when you get there. Don not buy from the "Chicago" scalpers that take over Indy for big events.

Tickets are still available on ticketmaster.com for $70, plus processing fees. Single seats only, it appears.

Have you looked anywhere besides stub hub? I figured you could still get tickets off ticketmaster.

I got mine two weeks ago on the 40 yard line 15 rows up for about $350 per, which I think it pretty decent.

If I'm a Wisconsin, Michigan State or Michigan fan holding tickets to that game and it is undefeated Iowa v. undefeated Ohio State, I'm not looking to dump the tickets on StubHub for face value or below. I'd anticipate that Iowa fans are going to be streaming into Indiana and will pay a premium. Ohio State fans will be voluminous as well. I'm not envisioning too much of a decline in prices. You might even see an increase - at least in the short term - in prices for the "good" seats.

Well, they have never sold this game out and tickets are usually dirt cheap a few days before the game. Couldn't give mine away to the inaugural game. Still have them

This is correct. Scalping right at kickoff would probably be your cheapest, and riskiest, option

True that - OSU travels very well and is close to Indy. If they are undefeated prices are going thru the roof.

I submitted an application to get our 2 seats (season ticket holder) and then at the bottom it had a "added ticket request" meaning I could add as many I wanted. So I put down 10 and thought what the hell.

So if I get all of them I will have 12, but I doubt it.

I was told this past weekend at a tailgate that ALOT of season ticket holders are putting in request. We only have 2 tickets and don't donate a whole lot. So oh well. If we get them, we will go, if we don't, then I guess Im watching on TV.

My cousin who lives out in California said people are already talking about Rose Bowl Tickets out there and how they can get them. He said if Iowa makes it, we can stay at his house and he will buy the tickets. All we have to pay for is transportation out. So I might save up and just do that.

So you may skip the Indy game because you might get a chance to go to the Rose Bowl? Sounds like you're setting yourself up to miss both of the most important games in a long time. I plan to go to Indy and whatever the game after that one is.

Misread my post.

IF I get the tickets to Indy, we are going no matter what. If we do not get the tickets, then I am not gonna pay out my arse to go see it, when I can watch it on TV.

IF we don't get Big Ten Tickets, then I will go wherever Iowa goes (most people think the Rose Bowl if undefeated and lose in BTC). So I am choosing 1 or the other, depending on the ticket situation.

If they get sent to Arizona, I have family there to stay with (they won't buy the tickets, but at least its a free place to stay).

Wiki says that Lucas Field normally seats 62k but can expand to 70k. Below is the attendance for the prior games.

2014: 60k
2013: 66k
2012: 41k
2011: Didn't see the attendance

I've got to think OSU fans, having gone last year and looking forward to another NT run, will not be all that up for the Iowa game.

My tickets were face value 2 weeks ago, and there were a ton of them available on the West half of the stadium. You snooze, you lose

OSU fans are everywhere though. When you have a program that wins as often as they do you get a lot of fans who have no affiliation with the school cheering for you. Nothing wrong with that, it's just what happens. So, don't count on them not showing up. Plus, Indianapolis really isn't a tough drive for people from Ohio.

I don't afford it, I justify why it's a necessary spend, and know I won't be going to a playoff semi-final if we win.

175 miles from Columbus to Indianapolis. That's an easy drive. That's only 40 more miles than driving from Iowa CIty to Ames. No brainer for OSU fans to go to a B1G championship game. I'm anticipating that they'll be there in droves - as will Iowa fans.

I'm also willing to go out on a limb and say that this game will set a B1G championship attendance record.

I got them on Ticketmaster, though I'm sure those are gone

Yeah I told him to check Stubhub, Ticketmaster, and other sites. he said the cheapest he could find was 104 dollars a ticket on stub hub (nose bleed sections).

I kind of told him if he wants good seats, he is going to have to pony up some serious $$. It is what it is, but hey Iowa has never played in this event and its only 6 hours from IC. Gotta think there will be a good representation of Iowa Fans.

I also told him to check Ebay closer to the event. I remember when Iowa played at solider field a few years ago, I found some cheap tickets on Ebay the week of the event.

OP have you checked Ticketmaster today?

people still use eBay for tickets? LOL

Look for individual tickets. It would be a small price to pay to sit alone for a game like this.

What are the face value of these $400 tickets? How much are these various ticket sites making per ticket? Just curious.

I know it's a big risk, but we bought our tickets after Iowa beat Minnesota. I knew if I waited, tickets would be sky high. We paid $125/ticket for 400 section sideline, which I know are not the best tickets but not the worst. Tickets are now around $171 each in our section. If Iowa doesn't make it, then I will resell them (probably at a bit of a loss to move them).

It's like I said earlier, we'll act like we've been there....when we actually get there.

I bought some today for 109 but its up really high. I sit in row 75 at Kinnick though and I like being up high. I bought from Vivid seats and the service fees were high.

I bought 5 tickets from Ticketmaster last week for $70 (plus fees). We'll be on the lookout on game day to upgrade, if possible. However, we didn't want to go to Indy without some tickets in hand. We'll see how things go. I don't think there are any bad seats there, but it will be my first time at Lucas Oil, so I'm hoping my upper level seats are not much different from similar seats in the top few rows of Kinnick.

Last year going to champaign, IL I got tickets for 20 dollars a piece off of ebay. Also have bought through there for some Iowa home games as well recently for friends. Most of them are priced about right (some people looking to make a killing) but for the most part reasonable.

Ticket prices are going down. I live in Indianapolis and can tell you the game has never really been a sell out. You could always purchase tickets at face value at the game or through scalpers. You have to remember the first week of December is normally not a good week to travel.
