Burger toppings & condiments are important but I also believe how you layer them is also important. So how would you make your perfect burger sandwich?

Mine in exact order from top to bottom

Toasted Bun
Mayo (Duke’s of course)
Yellow Mustard
Dill pickles
Shredded iceberg lettuce
American cheese
Patty
Grilled onions
Tomato
Mayo
Toasted Bun

Brioche bun
Hellmans Mayo
Ketchup
Onion
Lettuce
Cheese
Smashed patty
Cheese
Smashed patty
Tomato
Brioche bun

Bun
Mayo
Burger
Cheddar Cheese
(Bread and Butter) pickles
Thin sliced caramelized onions
Ketchup
Lettuce
Tomato
Bun

All correct except this statement ^^^ which is heresy in ‘merica (unless you can’t handle the lactose).

No. I loathe the taste of most cheeses. I only eat two types: feta and mozzarella. Ricotta if it’s mixed in with something.

So I won’t go near macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese sandwich, any burger with disgusting yellow cheese, or anything else. Tastes like complete shite to me. Even the smell is gross

I like a basic ass classic burger.

Bun
Burger
Cheese
Pickle or jalapeno
Mustard
Bun

A lot of times I didn't use buns at all because of the lady's celiac disease and how mid gluten free buns are. I only use buns if I'm out on the town.

I don't necessarily need a bunch of other stuff taking away from the juicy meat flavor of the burger
Occasionally will put mushrooms and Swiss cheese or bacon on it but not often.

I respect the detail, but we differ in our burger ideology. First mayo is for fries, mustard is for cubans. Only ketchup is for burgers.

I go:
Toasted Bun- Top bun is thicker. Absorbs sauce and doesn't disintegrate upon handling.
Ketchup- Add other sauces if you don't like to taste the beef. BBQ is a suitable substitute with right cheese/topping combo.
Pickles
Tomato
Lettuce- Insulates the wet ingredients from cooling the cheese.
Grilled onions- Heat shield to stop the cheese from getting cold.
Cheese- Allows the loose, grilled onions to press into the surface, preventing an onion slide. Similar to a mudslide but more dramatic as your burger slides off the Dixie paper plate.
Patty
Toasted bun- Allows the greasy goodness to absorb into the bun. Notice it doesn't disintegrate due to the lettuce barrier. It's also not cross contaminating the colelsaw and can tolerate a baked beans overflow event.

Butter toasted bun
Mayonnaise
Iceberg lettuce
Paddy
Cheese (usually cheddar, can be Swiss or blue)
Raw yellow onion
Tomato (optional)
Ketchup, yellow mustard
Butter toasted bun

If making with Swiss cheese I'll usually sauté some mushroom

is this thread specifically for burger sandwiches or can we also discuss hotdog sandwiches?

You're weird.

I dont think you neeed to over complicate it. Use your cheese as an effective moisture barrier and always make sure your meats touch.

Tried a smaller version of this one at home. The flavor was rather unremarkable, neither orgasmically delicious nor sickeningly gross. Just a novelty.

DOUBLE ELVIS BURGER

We use two peanut butter and raspberry jam sandwiches (topped with bacon) as the top and bottom buns for this burger. Inside is a flame-grilled 8-ounce ground sirloin patty topped with a king sized helpin’ of smooth peanut butter, bacon and fried bananas, all served on a toasted burger bun. It’s a heap-a-heap-a burnin’ love.

Are you a French, racist, AND a child???

And BBQ sauce????

I respect that you have a burger topping/layering philosophy, but it is clear that you are my burger nemesis. You are my steamed ham Capulet to my superior hammed-burger Montague!

En guarde!!!!!!!!

Getting back to OP’s question, I don’t have a specific order, but there are some preferences. Mayo and mustard on the bottom bun, ketchup on the top bun. Whatever cheese is available must be directly on the patty. All vegetables must be between the patty and the top bun.

Hot dogs are an altogether different animal…🌭
I am more particular about those. I like them with mustard and sauerkraut. I also love them with a tiny bit of mustard and coleslaw.
I like chili dogs too.
