This is a pretty neat animated recreation of the origin of the moon from the History.com people.

My question is: where did the big boulders come from? I mean I can see how the aggregation of lots of cosmic dust and whatever can eventually create enough mass and pressure to coalesce into a moon or planet, but I don't see it producing mere boulders.

Anyway, here's the link to the graphic

The moon was bombarded with asteroids and stuff. That's where the boulders and the craters came from.

I've seen this plot point before.

There was this big bang and stuff was flying around everywhere.
Again, while that may account for particles and dust, and while gravity acting on large mass may account for planet-sized objects, how do we get to boulders? Not enough gravity and pressure to cause the clump of dust to coalesce into a solid lump. Or so I would think. So how do we "start" with large boulders in the depicted scenario?

I have a scenario in mind but I'm no astrophysicist, so I'll wait to see if someone knows the answer before I make a fool out of myself by putting it out there. I know, I know, that usually doesn't stop me. But I figure there is an answer, so I don't need to make one up.

But seriously why do you assume everything would be dust after the big bang? I would think there would have been various pieces of matter of all sorts of sizes floating around and crashing into one another.

It is enough to know that God created the universe with its
planets as well as the sun, moon and stars. He created the
world out of nothing and commanded it into being by the
power of His Word. See Genesis chapter 1 for confirmation.

Do you think there was a spare planet God created just to plow into the earth and give us a moon? Or do you think the science in the OP is just bunk?

Well the big bang blew up a lot of boutique landscaping companies sending large boulders into space and a few landed on the moon.

Science cannot verify the supernatural act of God creating
the universe. Christians accept God's creation on faith.
