The B1G West isn't very good in 2022, though Illinois is having a very good start at 3-1 in B1G West play, despite the 23-20 loss in Week 1 at Indiana.

  1. Michigan 4-0 - impressive win over PSU ahead of bye week
  2. Ohio State 3-0 - opened with five wins in Columbus, then first road win of season 49-21 over MSU, as they enjoyed bye week
  3. Illinois 3-1 - with bye week, ahead of road trip to Nebraska

This week's game in Columbus will be the biggest test of an Iowa defense, since 2013, when the Hawkeyes last played in Columbus.

Sadly, the top Ohio prep on the Iowa team is not playing the rest of the season. He will be missed and missing his home state game has to sting.

Both Iowa and Ohio State had bye weeks ahead of this Week 8 showdown in Columbus.

Two programs headed in opposite directions though. Year 24 has been highly disappointing, as the Hawkeyes have played six programs that play sound defense mostly per The Athletic, holding an offensively challenged Hawkeye unit is check.

The Big Ten has five programs worthy of Top 25 rankings, as Penn State and Purdue are 2-1 and 3-1, respectively, in East and West are heading into games with hosting Minnesota 1-2 and at Wisconsin 1-3, respectively. The Nittany Lions and Boilermakers round out the Top 25 in my book.

Iowa is 1-2 tied with Minnesota and Northwestern at the halfway point of the regular season.

Nebraska is 2-2 in the West, while Wisconsin is 1-3. Talk about a mixed up division in 2022.

As many have forecasted, Iowa is on pace for a possible .500 season, as the Hawkeyes are a lock to fall to 1-3 in the Big Ten this week in Columbus. The Buckeyes look to join Michigan at 4-0.

Living in the wild, wild West.

He also is the Top B1G WR in conference play, though Ohio State has the top WR room in the Big Ten.

Iowa is heading into a gauntlet in Columbus this weekend.

Eastern Iowa golf courses should fair well on Saturday. Forecast is favorable for fair weather Hawkeye, Cyclone and Panther fans, who are below .500 for the 2022 season.
