He does such a great job. Podcasts, posting articles throughout the week that are funny and insightful about football with just enough odd ballness to keep it entertaining.

Dochterman does a fine job too and they pull of a very good batman and Robin IMO.

I just thought he (they) deserved a plug. I follow several other B1G sportswriters and it's pretty blah. We are really fortunate and it makes a great season even better

Yes. Hlas is living off of his T25 voting status, and is out of touch and arrogant. Morehouse is about the only thing that newspaper has left. We did good when the U of I forced Bob Bruce out. I wish they'd apply pressure and we'd get an early retirement from Hlas, so Iowa football coverage would be predominantly Morehouse.

Yes, Morehouse is about as good as the come. Very skilled writer and has great narratives.

It will be a dark day if moves on to greener pastures.

Bob Bruce..... what an idiot. He acted like he knew everything about Iowa football but was wrong on so many occasions. The guy had no business hosting a post-game show. Thankfully he is no longer on WMT radio. I agree on Morehouse. He is an excellent beat writer and is also very honest in his assessment of the program good or bad.

Guy ripped me on the radio once. He was/is an idiot. He made a comment about a player one time. I have a long memory. I had a conversation with some folks at the U. He is gone. You're welcome.

I never understood how Bob Bruce got hired for radio anywhere. I would think someone who constantly studders and stammers would be a reason not to hire in that field.

Morehouse is not only a good writer but charts games and generates data you can't find anywhere else. The number of snaps of each offensive set, raider package, "magic points", Etc. A great resource for Hawk fans. The OnIowa podcast is easily the best Hawk podcast out there.

I believe Hlas is a great writer. He does seem to rub alot of people the wrong way sometimes, but he is honest and candid. While I don't always agree with his opinions he isn't afraid to call out problems within the Iowa athletic program when warranted.

What can't you stand about the OnIowa podcast? In-depth data and rational analysis? You prefer Miller's knee jerk reaction, lack of research, and anti-Kirk bias?

Ugh, not for me. I can't stand it. It's HN or bust for me.
So you like Miller's decent coverage and then an ad nauseam comparison of Iowa vs Michigan from Deace over Morehouse & Dochterman? OnIowa is likely the most listenable and objective podcast out there with AllHawkeyes a close second just based on the quality of guests they bring in.

that's sweet, Mrs Morehouse.

he does do a terrific job

Morehouse is really great. He does a really nice job of balancing the history of Iowa with the current state of college football (recruiting, social media, etc.) Plus I don't think he is an Iowa fan, which helps him to stay grounded and unbiased, while also pushing the envelope a little more than some of his counterparts.

Ugh, hell no, I don't mind listening to HN when it's the only thing I have, but Miller is loud and arrogant, and Deace isn't even an Iowa guy and I'm a little perturbed with his other career

I can't wait to hear their reaction to the Marquette game. They weren't sounding very optimistic in the last pod. However, they did call the strategy correctly. Did Fran & staff reference these guys? jk

I can't put my finger on it, I just don't like it. BHGP was even worse. I find the interplay between Miller and Deace most enjoyable.

People don't like Deace because he is a religious right winger, which isn't a true conservative at all, but they let politics get in the way of listening, and he has allowed this to happen. When you take away your agreement, or disagreement with him, he is actually a pretty knowledgable big picture football guy. His preseason pieces are extremely in depth, and his preseason predictions are often times eerily accurate.

I didn't like Bruce for reasons I already mentioned. I don't like Hlas because I had to sit next to home at an event, and he talked down to me the entire time. I sensed a sort of, I'm the press, so I'm enlightened" attitude about him. His access frankly is only slightly better than some folks on this board FWIW.

Nah, there is a difference. He is an ISU guy and it shows in his petty shots he takes. Follow him on twitter.

He actually improved for a bit after I posted a thread about what a dick he is. Of course, the media stick together and they deleted the thread.

He is always taking passive aggressive shots. It is tiresome.

I feel like Miller is always taking people's opinions after the fact and claiming they were his.. His water cooler story about Oklahoma vs Baylor changed about three times to make him sound smarter each time..

Forget his politics - Deace is an idiot. He constantly spouts nonsense stats and half-remembered things as if they were gospel. Think BGHP does great although its more humor oriented. Morehouse is great.

He does indeed. You can find gold nuggets in many of his articles. I like Hlas too.

I like Hawkeye Nation because they mostly stay on point. It's relatively concise and they rely on stats.

AllHawkeyes is my next favorite. Who knew Pat Harty would be more likable on the radio? They have good insight even if they are a little scattered.

Huddle Pass with Anton Norinsky and Drew Tate is ok. I'd rather hear their take on the actual team and give some thought to upcoming games. Instead, it's Anton talking way too loudy while Drew sits in the back (I swear he's smoking a fatty) and inappropriately laughing the whole time. They could back down on their personal stories and increase their coverage of the actual team. Of course, that would mean Drew would actually have to WATCH a game.

Hlas is ok. It depends so much on who he interviews. I thought his Brian Ferentz interview was insightful and probably my favorite of the season.

I always have a hard time getting into BHGP.

Morehouse's post cast is ok. It's too long and they ramble way too much.

Ya know, MM rocks even though i don't follow the podcasts or vids. Following him on twitter is awesome. In fact i'd junk twitter if not for @marcmorehouse and @hawkeyegamefilm they are great resources...

I subscribe to 9 Iowa podcasts

Great:
On Iowa: I will listen to this one first if they all downloaded at the same time. Great sound quality and really great in depth break downs

HN: I love John's take on things and his reaction as a fan of the program. Deace can be hard to listen to but he does his homework. Deace just needs to leave his political views out of the sports talk.

Iowa Huddlecast: Anton Narinskiy gets a lot of former players on and we hear some very funny behind the scenes stories from the players point of view. Drew Tate seems to be there for name only

The rest:
Hawkeye Report. : can be great depending on the guest. But, bad sound quality, oddly timed themes, and a somewhat disparaging tone at times toward the fan base make this one hit or miss.

Hlas: simply an interview based podcast

12 Saturdays: funny, but just a couple of Iowa fans discussing games

Two-Star Hawkeye: similar to 12 Saturdays but a bit more incite but less objectivity PlannedSickDays is good

All Hawkeyes: like listening to a radio program with random callers adding very little to the a conversation that rarely stays on topic

Black Heart Gold Podcast: very funny at times. Interviews with upcoming opponents' bloggers at times can be insightful.

All that being said, I listen to almost all of them if I have the time
