I'm at the point where I am using ChatGPT all the time. It started by just cleaning-up email messages that I wanted to send out. Now I use it to create full documents and even slideshow presentations. I recently started using it at work to help with software development. So far not a whole lot, but it's helped me with some SQL stuff, and when I need help on a topic - which I used to use Google and would have to skip over stuff that's ten years old and obsolete - I am now exclusively using ChatGPT because it's far more accurate and about 100x more useful.

The cool thing is it remembers all prior conversations, so now it has a lot of background information so I can skip a lot of the explanation when asking questions.

I'm curious how much others are using it.

Is it able to crawl live websites now? Or is it still just pulling what it knows from the last update?

ChatGPT polished:

I frequently use ChatGPT for our business, primarily for writing emails and newsletters. I jot down my ideas and then have ChatGPT refine the wording. Most of the time, it does a great job, though it can sometimes sound a bit robotic or overly corporate.

It’s been especially helpful for my wife, whose native language is Spanish. At first, she wasn’t keen on the idea, but now she loves it as much as I do, especially since I no longer have to proofread her emails.

Lately, I’ve also started using it for more complex information searches. It’s so much faster than sifting through multiple websites to find what I need.

[/QUOTE all the time. I love how concise and thorough it is.

Are you concerned about uploading company information using an email editor? I have wanted to try Grammarly, but I am worried about what information would be uploaded to their system to learn about my writing style. I have zero concerns about personal emails.

It's a lot more useful than a google search where I then have to review and look at each individual search result.
It does that for me and saves a bunch of time. Especially helpful when you can keep asking questions and getting better results.
It does make mistakes though, so you need to verify the output on anything important.

Since copilot is built into Microsoft I'll use it occasionally to help me with my words. Clean up whatever I have to put up on SharePoint before i put it up. Going to be getting another AI tool in the next month or so that's built into azure devops so kinda looking forward to playing with that.

I use it some. But some of my articles are so specific that AI basically regurgitates my articles.

But on my ww2 writings, yes it's useful.

What are some of the things people are using it for in their personal lives?

I've used it to create trip itineraries. It's great for suggesting ideas for things to do and restaurants. Keep telling it what you like and don't like and you can create a great weekend trip plan.

I've used it for helping with meal prep and planning. Tell it what I have, or what I'd like to have and it will create detailed plans, with recipes and nutrition info. Keep telling it yes or no and you can dial in a nice meal plan for the week.

Also used it for book recommendations to find books similar to other ones I like. For some tax questions. Technical questions. Home repair project guidance, and more.

Also, to expound on my terrible technological acumen, I purchased a new laptop a couple of months ago.

Do I need to install antivirus software? Which one?

Does a great job writting limit bits of computer code I don’t have a lot of experience with. Beats websites where people post thoughts or ideas to help that are as flawed as my efforts.

Sometimes I can tell it there code didn’t work and it says I am correct and changes it.

I did the chatgtp of my each of my kids. Crazy accurate. Talked about my sons all conference all state awards and his college sports.

It improves exponentially over time. Going to be a lot of unemployed people in the future.

Dumb question, because I haven't played with AI outside of accessing some image generators a few times, are you doing this from a free platform, or is there a subscription, etc.?

I just worry about using it alone as a reference because of the 'hallucination' issue.

ChatGPT invented a sexual harassment scandal and named a real law prof as the accused

The AI chatbot can misrepresent key facts with great flourish, even citing a fake Washington Post article as evidence

Windows Defender which is built in and free is probably enough. Business users are the real risk is nowadays. If you want something a little more robust that also has a browser plugin and anti-malware to help there I would say a toss up between Bitdefender and Webroot.

Don't click links you don't need to. Don't open email attachments unless you are expecting them. If you use browser plugins make sure they have a lot of positive reviews for whichever browser you are using and from the browser vendors site i.e Google, Microsoft, Firefox official plugin sites. If you get a popup that tells you to call a number because your PC is messed up just power down your PC and boot it up again. Microsoft, Intuit, etc will never call you directly ever.

Follow those and Windows Defender is for sure enough.

Not much. Mostly to create joke images that I send back and forth with a friend. And then sometimes as a google search replacement. Nothing professionally, I barely do anything for work, I figure it will replace me eventually anyways.

Incredible technology though.

I refuse to use AI until it stops making porn images look so damned cartoonish. It’s a slippery slope, and before you know it you’ll be one of those weirdos jerking off to anime 😳
