How much Hormel chili can you eat in one sitting?

I ate three cans last night for dinner. One turkey and beans and two just beans. Heated them up together and damned if I didn't finish it off before going to bed. For cheap canned chili it's got a top notch flavor. Anyone else like the stuff?

In my early 20's, I would use one can of regular/no beans on six chili dogs. Now that I'm in my late 40's, that kind of volume is no longer doable. If we don't have any of our homemade stuff in the freezer, we will use a can of the turkey/no beans for a quick weekend chili dog meal. Not bad from a nutrition standpoint (aside from sodium) and it tastes fine, especially topped with cheese and onions.

People eat chilli from cans? It literally takes 40 minutes to make a fresh batch.

I'll sometimes use the Hormel no-beans for some good tasting poor food.

In a bag of fritos with cheese and hot sauce, in boxed mac and cheese, on a hot dog, mixed with cream cheese makes a nice base for dip.

I approve.

Hey, did you get the boxed mac & cheese with a can of chili idea from me? I recall posting that here and it was mocked by many, but at least one person said they would try it. If that one person was you, I'm glad to see you like it!

Not even the wave can make that garbage palatable.

add a few drops of liquid smoke and then share the "moral fameus smoky chili" with friends.

EDIT - can you please add this recipe to your recipe page and give me a hat tip?

I did and I do. This will make me sound even poorer, but I found something in the chili allows the mac and cheese to actually reheat pretty well.

Enough salt to keep Iowa roads dry in the winter. Enjoy your kidney stones.

This is one question that will never, ever be answered. I have never nor will I ever eat Hormel Chili.

If you mix the chili in with the goodness known as velveeta cheese and toss some tostitos next to the bowl then I could down a few cans worth.

I used to eat hormel canned chili all the time in my younger years. Regular chili with beans and at least one sleeves of crackers. One can at a time only though.

The best hormel product is Spam. I slice it and fry it and make a sandwich with ketchup.

I like chili, but I've never had it from a can.

About 5 years back we had a chili contest at work. My boss bought a bunch of canned chili to see what reactions would be, on my score card I wrote “this has to be chili from a can” and have it a very low score.

Funny thing, I’ve never had canned chili before that point (or since) but you could just tell there was nothing fresh about it.

The beanless is ok as a snack food/chili dog topping. I cant imagine sitting down and plowing through a whole can as a meal, though, especially with those nasty beans.

Not sure my intestines would ever recover from that.

Campbells makes a canned chili that beats Hormel. Still kind of bland but has a better texture and a little better flavor.
