Makes me wonder if we know this through spies, captured tech, or are we just showing our own Tomahawks and assuming Russia's are basically the same?

I would guess there have been enough bits and pieces of US Tomahawks collected around the world for the Russians to some technology from them. Or, by reading Popular Science.

A:: We no doubt have satellite images of their launch and flight
B: This is just a newer version of older models, several of which have been sold to countries like Algeria and India (countries we have relatively good military relations with).
C: The way cruise missiles work isn't really a secret.
