If there are multiple States involved, it makes perfect sense. If not, it doesn't.Florida had a tourney this weekend called summer of states or something like that. It doesnt surprise me but are we that dumb or are we dumbing down wrestling?

He won a national championshipWhat if there's only one nation involved? So did Spencer win at national, or nationals?
He won a national championship
might be time to include a dictionary in the stickies on this sight
Sorry, my give a damn is busted. What if there's only one nation involved? So did Spencer win at national, or nationals?
Much too early in the off-season for that.Sorry, my give a damn is busted.
Nationals is used in the context of more than one has been held. And he won a state championship at Franklin Regional in 2014 (and 15 and 16).
So it's settled if we ever want consistency. Because we use the term nationals pretty regularly, states can similarly be used regularly. He went to nationals and won a national title, just like he went to states and won a state title.
@pawrestlersintnI will have to refer to what jvclark and tailgate tom said before I am willing to concur with what you are trying to imply. As a side note track meets are run concurrently. Wrestling meets are done concurrently.
If the state that is clearly the strongest state in the union in high school wrestling wants to call it "states", then states it is.
