Husker Night at the KC Royals game

Hindsight and all, can’t blame any GM for not selling when you are 2 games back at the trade deadline.
2 games back off the 2nd wildcard, and they really werent that good. Had a mini win streak that fooled people. They could have had 3 stud prospects ready to go.

No, 2 games back in the division on July 31st.

The Indians were not playing well and made it seem like they had a chance. Still, you look pretty dumb selling when you are that close.

They didn't have a chance, they weren't that good, immediately started a losing streak. Could they have made the playoffs.... maybe... but they weren't the 2014 or 2015 royals. Foresight woulds have been realizing that, and optimizing the return on your stars.

They didn’t have a chance but maybe could have made the playoffs? Got it.

There were a lot of reasons to go for it:

-last chance with the current group who gave KC baseball again. I would never count them out after some of the things they accomplished.

-comensatory picks for Cain, Hos, Moose (no one could have predicted he wouldn’t sign).

-rental returns at the deadline haven’t been as good in recent years.

Hopefully Kowar and Lynch pan out and makes it all for not. Maybe we get lucky and get a good player for Moose this deadline (doubtful).

But again, not sure how anyone could blame them for going for it.

Did you watch them? They didn't pass the eyeball test at all. They gotta have made trades before The end of August via the waiver claim. The Royals are my second favorite team, it was frustrating to see this coming, they haff a chance to set themselves up for another run in 2 to 3 years..... but elected to suck.

Also, Eloy Jimenez and Gleyber Torres say hello

If a team offered their top prospect for Hosmer or Cain in August then you might have a point. Lol.

I think the decision was made to get 3 comensatory picks. Not a terrible consolation prize for choosing to suck.

When it's Dayton Moore doing the picking...... though I'll admit I liked what he did with his first 4 picks.

I was there, too. Pulled in and remembered what promo night it was. But, take consolation in the fact Red Sox fans dwarfed all other demographics in stadium. And, Alex Gordon was pedestrian in performance. Saw my first Frost jersey of 2018... likely not the last.

Well between the cubs and royals, I'll see..... one more in my lifetime, and I'm 41.

I hope it isn't that long for either team; Cubs are my second team.

I think Kowar and Singer will be in the majors by the end of 2020. Royals do have a few good hitting prospects as well in Elier Hernandez, Suely Matius and Nicky Lopez. Matius needs to learn how to take pitches though but he is only 19 so he has time. Gotta hit on some of these trades.

Well guys, if history proves correct we only have to wait for 2045 for another championship. I will only be 73.

Moore should have seen the writing on the wall last season and traded all his key pieces for quality prospects. He is now gambling on the draft picks from this year to rebuild a terrible farm system. The draft hasn't been kind to the Royals lately. Trading Hosmer, Cain and Moose last year would have brought in some nice prospects. Maybe even Duffy. Then trading Perez and Merrifield this year would have netted another nice group. Tank a couple years and get 2 straight top 3 picks and the Royals could have been competitive from 2020 on with enough farm prospects to trade for another run at the postseason. It would have been a gamble but it's a better gamble than putting all your stock in draft picks. Draft picks in baseball is a complete crapshoot.
