I’m not sure how you explain our bowl game blowouts, unless you think those coaches know our scheme in and out.
Iowa typically beats poor teams and loses to better teams. Even matchups are pretty much tossups like today. Its pretty simple.
They also won, what, 3 or 4 games last year? People on here would blow up Kinnick if we won 3 games in a season.
I wouldn't say he outreached Kirk far and away, but what he does do is attack Iowa's schemes. He doesn't let Kirk determine the style of play. Kirks problem is and always be predictability, I could call a defense against our offense. Stack the box and play tight man coverage on the outside, we don't have the receivers to break the top off a defense. Then when they do Stanley can't hit the deep ball.
Our biggest problem is the offensive line is getting worked and thus our run game has gone to shit and that means our PA game doesn't work either. The defense is fine but it's hard to keep asking them to keep opponents 14 points especially when our punter keeps giving them the ball on our side of the field.

They have month to figure us out. Watch tape, call other coaches for advice. They have plenty of time to game plan and figure us out and have their team ready.
So... a green two year B1G coach can’t do that? After how many years does a coach have to be around to figure it out then?
Seems like we should try to put our guys in a better position to execute. A lot of high school coaches could send our guys out with any game plan and tell them that if they execute they’ll win. But there’s a little more to it than that.

Easy to scout and develop a game plan for Iowa. That's the crappy part of playing so vanilla. Execution was great in the 1st quarter for MSU and that won them the game.
And it didn't help that MSU was working over a new Iowa corner.
We might just as well skip the 1st quarter, give our opponent a 10-14 pt lead, and avoid the risk of injury because Iowa looks lost in most games for the first 15 minutes.

Oh I know. Those were good seasons. I'm just saying we have an insane bunch around here when we lose. In the past and depending on the game, I am one of them. Just not today.
