I Hope We Lose Every Game

Iowa basketball is done under Fran. We have seen his best, and it’s no where good enough. Now we are going to see a completely lost season full of blowouts on the road and empty seats at home.
Howz the stock market going to finish the year Nostradamus?

Losing the rest of the games in this season is not going to happen, but yes, this is the most messed up roster in Fran's 14 years at Iowa. Starting the most unathletic front line in the last 14 years is the result of a poor roster build of upper classmen, only recruiting 2 players last year and 4 freshman this year and bringing in 2 unathletic players from the portal. It was a recipe for disaster from the start. But your point is well taken, it probably is time for Fran to either retire or seek other employment. Fran has reached a low point in his time here at Iowa, it doesn't look good for the rest of the season. Love the freshman though.

Frosh look decent but Dembele and Freeman are the only two with BT frames.

Upon watching last night’s game, I don’t think anyone from Iowa’s roster would start at Iowa State. Sandfort would come off the bench and play a role, but beyond that I don’t even think another Hawkeye would get minutes.

The difference in talent up and down the lineup was remarkable. And this isn’t to say ISU is all-world, it’s far more revealing about Iowa.

This may be true.
After all, Omaha Biliew didn't get a minute in a blowout game.
Maybe he was sick.

I agree. I am a casual basketball fan and last night was the first real game I’ve watched of Iowa’s this year. The talent disparity was night and day. Iowa looked like Hickory High playing the Duke Blue Devils.

Take a hike. Last thing we need are obvious profundities from Clowns. But, yes, the Hawks are in trouble. It was for the most part men v boys last night.

I'm done with this team until Fran is done.
Didn't watch one second of the game last night and glad I didn't.
Nothing will change under Fran's watch. Poor defense, whiffs on recruiting, keeping PMac in the lineup when he flat out stinks.
The Fran tenure has run it's course. I'm not investing any more resources or time w this product until we see a change.

You love the freshmen because the defense hasn't been coached out of them yet.

I don’t have much to add. I was watching an NFL shit show last night. Had no idea IA vs IA St. was going on. I’m a football/wrestling guy and U of I grad. Spent many nights in Carver because I wanted to and was required to do so. What little do I know about BB really doesn’t matter. Fran is not the answer and I’ve been saying this to my loyal BB following pals for years. Can’t be afraid of change and can’t be afraid of taking risks! My old man repeatedly told me that for years and he’s 💯 correct! Good luck to all of you loyal IA BB lovers and we sure could use your energy and support for us wrestling folk!

It's a rebuilding year so there are going to be struggles. I'm not convinced that Fran should be fired but he needs to show something in the next two years with this freshman and sophomore class. If they don't have good success, he should be gone.

Sandfort would absolutely start for Iowa State. That's just silly. Perkins would likely play big minutes as well despite his poor performance last night. Krikke would get a lot of playing time despite his defensive liabilities.

It's easy to say Iowa's players suck when they have a team performance as bad as that one. Go watch them versus Creighton or any of the wins and you would change your mind if you are even slightly impartial.

Rebuilding from what exactly?
Rebuilding from losing three of the best players we've had at Iowa to the NBA in 3 consecutive years. Fact is, this team is very young. We give freshman and sophomores big minutes.

This is the way Iowa works in basketball if you've been paying attention since Tom Davis took over. If the team is young, we struggle. When the team has a good group of Juniors and Seniors, that's when we typically can compete and make a run in the top 25 and have a decent seed in the tourney.

If you don't play defense, you won't play at ISU. There's no way Krikke sees the floor. Sandfort would not start as he doesn't play defense either.

So what type of success do you have to have to warrant saying you're rebuilding? Again, silly. Fran has made the tourney most years he's been here.

Iowa has never been a place that you just reload year after year with no dips in success. Under Dr. Tom it was the same way. If the team was young, they struggled. When they got years under their belt, they had success. The question is whether these young freshman and sophomores are going to develop into good players in the next 2 years.

I watch a lot of college D1 BBall and without a doubt Fran is one of the worst D1 coaches out there IMO. His teams are usually slow, lack discipline, soft, undersized physically, and of course do not play defense. He tends to recruit guys built like himself and those players/days are long gone as the game today is much faster and more physical.

IMO he needs to move on and let Iowa hire a coach (DeVries my first choice) that can put a competitive product on the floor consistently. I will continue to watch every game, but it gets harder every year watching Iowa sort of play big time BBall. I do not even get upset any longer I just grimace.

And Fran gets fired. We have no shot of ever being great under his leadership.

We’re just little ole Iowa, just can’t do any better than making the tournament with 68 teams. We should never expect more because we might hire someone who does worse……

If you believe this, then what’s the point of giving any energy or money to the program? Just sit back and enjoy being losers , but we could we are afraid we will become bigger losers. Smh

I’m just curious what you see Fran being able to do differently in two years than he has in like 14 years?

Gotta love the great Hawkeye fans on this board that hope we lose all of our games. Truly great fans!
Bottom line....McCaffery has had ONE losing season since his first one here. As great a coach as Matt painter is, he's had three. and just three years ago they were one game over .500. We aren't Purdue, a school with a great recruiting base and basketball reputation. McCaffery has done pretty well here considering all the factors he's had to fight to be successful and that includes a pretty tepid fan base. All you people that think he will be fired if he has a poor season are delusional.

I think the NIL has been particularly harsh for Iowa in basketball. Guys are looking to get paid. I don't know if Iowa can shop at the high end stores. I get the sense that they're at Wal-Mart, using coupons.

With that, being a good defensive and rebounding team, when you're challenged athletically, is the best way to even up a game. Since Iowa isn't known for their defense, this gap between us and the Thems seems like it will only get larger.

Regardless, in no manner would I support Iowa losing games to achieve the end of Fran being let go. That's a road to perdition.
