Iowa's going to be getting the ball late in the 4th near our own 35 with the pressure on and no timeouts. Our fans are standing in anticipation and Kinnick is rocking. The noise from the crowd is overpowering until Stanley politely signals them to quiet.

Iowa's been having a hard time moving the ball all day but something feels different about this special drive. On 1st down Stanley drops back and hits Vandy on a nice 6 yard out, and gets out of bounds stopping the clock at 0:41. On 2nd, Stanley hands off to Wadley for a zone stretch play to the right which gets stuffed for -2 as tOSU was selling out. Here comes the dreaded 3rd and 6. Iowa fans take a deep breath as the clock ticks below 0:30 and Stanley takes a shotgun snap looking right. Checking down from Easley and Vandy Nate finds Noah coming out of comeback route with a tOSU LB right in his back pocket. Nate puts a bullet right to the numbers that Noah shields from the linebacker and powers backwards for a gain of 9 and a first down Iowa at their own 48 with 0:23 left and a stopped clock. Crowd goes crazy after Noah redeems himself for the late NW drop.

Iowa gets to the line quick and runs a toss right to Wadley who then flicks it back to a streaking ISM in the other direction. The electricity in Kinnick starts to build as miles of green open as ISM breaks up the field racing to the south end zone. The buzz quickly dies as a OSU safety breaks into the picture from nowhere to make a sure TD saving tackle after a gain of 8.

Iowa sprints to the line at the OSU 44 as time winds down to under 15. Everyone knows Iowa needs to get to at least the 35 for the Man, the Myth, and the Legend, Recinos. The OSU backfield comes to the line for press coverage while the two nickle linebackers show blitz. The crowd is stirring. Stanley takes the shotgun snap at 0:11. After faking a throw to a streaking Easley outside, Nate drops the ball down for a perfectly executed delayed hand-off to Wadley who breaks left and sprints for open field breaking a tackle and juking a LB in the process. He's finally brought down at the 28 with 0:03 left and a first down clock stoppage.

Almost second nature, Recinos sprints out with our FG team and sets up for his destiny. Iowa fans can barely contain themselves in the stands but Miguel doesn't let that affect him. He hasn't had time to think about the names he might soon be placed next to; Houghtlin, Murray, Duncan. The ball is spotted, and without hesitation is sent back to the Iowa holder. Completely cool and focused, Miguel proceeds through his motions and as the ball leaves his foot Kinnick is completely quiet. With the ball tumbling in the air, Iowa fans in the south endzone start celebrating, soon catching on around the stadium. The kick is good. The kick is good. Iowa has done the impossible.

Final score: OSU 48, Iowa 3

Thanks for reading.

I knew that was coming, but kudos for putting a lot of effort into this.

I smell plagiarism. The OP's storyline wreaks of Iowa/PSU 2008, Iowa/Pitt 2015, and Iowa/Michigan both 2016 & 1985. This is also what Iowa/PSU 2017 should have been had that last drive not scored so quickly.

How about some original content? Why not 15 seconds left in the game and we down 7, the offense stalls at the O$U 35 yard like and Kirk has Recinos kick a FG to put us down 4? Ensuing onside kick is recovered by the Buckeyes. JT Barrett proceeds to take a knee but the ball is wet and it slips out and gets returned by Manny Rugumba for the winning TD. Dumb luck. The End

Even with a clock stoppage to move the chains, there's no way we get a FG off with 3 seconds on the clock and 0 timeouts!

Fake news! :p

I thought the same thing. But they lined up and spiked it with 1 second remaining. I cannot wait till this Saturday!!!

You certainly had us going NDHawk. Well done...

The fiction started early when the OP said we got the ball on the 35. IF he would said we got the ball on the 8, then I would have continued reading.

Actually it was all fiction. Kinda like Urban being in awe of KF.

Saw the punch line coming from the start. Overplayed the setup with the writing.

Wasn't there a Simpsons where Homer was dreaming about being John Elway and scoring a last second touchdown in the super bowl bringing the final score to Denver-7 San Francisco-56?
