I saw this coming and even surmise it back in October

This would be illegal under any sport governed by USADA. Very hard to get a TUE.

I think its easy. Sports should be XY or XX. Get rid of genders & base sports on your genetic background.

I actually officiated some of her matches back in November and thought, "she is more buff than most of the boys".

So in this case you don't see any issues given that the individual wrestling in the girls tournament was XX? The primary issue is that the individual was/is using supplemental testosterone.

This is a shame. Apparently the kid wants to wrestle against boys, but TX rules say you have to go by your birth gender.

I don't care if the girls want to wrestle with the boys or if the boys want to play volleyball with the girls. I guess I added a ribbin' to the gender discourse.

The use of steroids should be automatic ban. I will add that if you do USATF or USAT or any other endurance sport as a licensed athlete, iit is nearly impossible to get a TUE exemption if you have been clinically diagnosed with low T. So I think this story at hand is interesting because it has created a very hypocritical precedent.

They should be competing within the gender classification they were born if all possible and without the aid of banned performance enhancing substances. People born as male should never be allowed to compete on the women's team.

This did have a different twist than what I expected. I expected some male claiming he is now female. I did not see some girl thinking she could change into a man and thus have to compete with girls still. The steroids have buffed her out big time.

The only problem is that taking steroids is an illegal performance enhancing drug. Am I correct?

You could be right. I don't know. But not all steroids are the same or have the same effects I would guss.

Some may be banned and others may be acceptable..................or not.

You have to get an exemption for TRT in the UFC. Great for her on the direction she want to take with her identity. Any athlete using performance enhancing substance should be disqualified. I would be pissed if my kid had to wrestling someone with a chemical edge.

But has anyone successfully gotten that exemption? Same opportunity exists in other sports, & for the right reason, is nearly impossible to get the exemption through USADA. Even micro-dosing of T has been proven to provide benefit.

No more TRT allowed in the UFC since USADA took over a couple years ago, FWIW, a good ten years too late, JMHO.

What's so great about it? It is nothing but a life of confusion and misery. The substance abuse rate and suicide rate are off the charts.

Correlation does not equal causation. Social Science 101 there. Society plays a role in that. American Samoa and other South Pacific Island nations don't have that problem due to long held acceptance of it as a third gender.

Now, as for this case, as liberal, live-and-let-live libertarian as I am, it is just not fair to other athletes in a sport like wrestling (male or female) to face an athlete on steroids, no matter the reason. They should honestly have a Trans category at the paralympics, or something to encourage these youths and have a place for them. Just not at the expense of the other young athletes. I would have no problem with this in sports like bowling, curling, etc. where there's no advantage to steroids.

Yes, I guess society does play a role in that. As long as Society seperates them by identifying them as having a disability (as you did above) then that probably won't change anytime soon.

Not what I meant by having them at Paralympics. Yeesh.

.
Facts are facts. They do have a very difficult, hard life full of substance abuse and suicide. I did not put blame anywhere.
