Let’s move on.

Who’s got the skinny on the Spartans? How are we going to get more balance on offense, and keep those safeties from crowding the box?

Hard to say Brian, I'll look into it once I finish my weekly report for Phil on our defensive strategy. It's not looking promising though.
Dang. I was hoping you’d get to mine first. I’m having difficulty deciding between:
1) Risk the interception, but try to fit the ball into the TE down the middle
2) Flare screen as an extension of the run game
3) 4 seams, because if you’re going deep you might as well send everyone
4) Pound the rock. At some point it always cracks

Hell, I was over it 15 minutes after the game ended.

I'm betting the team started moving on Sunday. Considering how this team trailed in every game so far this year, and especially the ISU comeback, and the resiliency shown against PSU...not worried about the players at all.

And considering how Iowa rebounded last fall PSU to UM - how the coaches put that team back together after getting their lungs ripped out...not worried there either.

Have a little faith, brothers.

I'd like to think I have a pretty good, rational "this is only a game" type mindset, but I'm jealous. Really, really jealous about this. I've thought of that last play and the 3" that decided the game about 40 times since Sat night, as recently as at lunch today. This is a tough one for me, like MSU 2015 tough.

Gosh...I'm not even sure it was 3". Hooker said if he went up with one hand instead of 2, he would have gotten it. It was a tough loss for sure.

Few things:

Better field position to start drives is a good start.

Secondly...more importantly....when the defense gives you opportunities to make plays you capitalize on it. The play calling was not as bad as some of you cliff divers want to make it out. Three of our drives early stalled due to drops by Vandy and an overthrow to a wide open receiver for 20 yards. Before someone says the drop by Vandy was throw slightly behind him I'd agree...but it is a play that a senior leader has to make. Especially in the situation along with the fact he had running room.

Better punting will help in flipping the field.

Lastly...how about better tackling. Iowa looked like a bunch of freshman trying to tackle the varsity on Saturday.

It looked like he went for the interception when he probably could have easily blocked it. Just misjudged it slightly.

A hangover for you, the fans or the players?

First, 2 don't matter!

I think MSU may have a bit of a hangover as well. They were beaten pretty soundly by ND. Both teams know this is an important win to get back on track.

As I've gotten older...it's not a "just a game" mindset with me so much as I've learned to accept that no amount of wallowing is going to relieve the pain of losses like these. And you won't see me in the Pedo State/classless coach-player threads either cause that really is so much wasted energy, and ain't gonna bring that last play back and change it's outcome.

As a fan, I've moved on. MSU, folks.

I've mentioned in several threads...what we saw Saturday was an all time all time game. Hell yeah it hurts to lose, but it was pure joy to experience watching it.

I'm not going to allow Iowa losing it to cloud that. I merely (I know, some people just aren't wired like me) am able to "dispassionately look at the game itself" to accept what happened better than others I guess.

The great thing for me is next Saturday Iowa gets the chance to "fix me" as far as any residual feelings PSU may have applied. I see opportunity. I see the entire season. I see lots of joy being spread out to Hawkeye Nation as a distinct possibility coming out of that game, win OR lose.

As Joe Walsh said, maybe I'm just lucky that way.

If there’s a positive for this week as far as conference hopes, both games are out of division so the road to Indianapolis is open regardless of what happens. A win Saturday would be huge but it’s not an all or nothing proposition for the hawks.

If we have any inclination of winning the division, we'd better win this week.

The 2015 B1G championship game loss to sparty is the only game that has had any hangover affect on me personally. Just typing it out now makes me feel a little ill.

Wrong. If we lose to MSU, we no longer control our road to Indy. We could sweep the West and still not make Indy.
