Cullen Schriever and Oldham meet in 2nd round. Schriever has beat him pretty good twice, but what is weight allowance by Friday? A 106er can be up to 111? I don't think Cullen will lose, but he will be giving up weight. I think those 2 are a clear top 2 at that weight. Too bad his twin brother Colby Schriever gets Teske first round. Colby is certainly in contention to place high, but doubt he has anything for Teske.
I'm betting Teske does not have a close match this tournament. Dude is a hammer.
Too bad Bennet and Biscoglia are on the same side of the bracket. Should be a finals match.

As to the original question, I think Brands vs Lara could be a good one too.
I'll be following Brands, Axmear, Costello, Schriever, and Happel. Oh and Teske, cause i like his style, even if hes not likely to come to Iowa. Maybe Cullan and Carl will be our future lightweight duo, post Lee-Teasdale.

Ybarra is going to be a stud. Most of the Sunnyside kids are but very few translate onto a national level. Tough for a lot of those kids to travel constantly $$$ to where the competition is. I am thinking Ybarra can...he was top 4 at Minnesota Christmas tourney I believe. I do know he beat little Berge in a close one. I am hearing that Sunnyside is headed to Ironman next year so we'll see.
Think Max Lyon is the alpha dog here...wish it were Lyon/Schiltz instead.

Both of the Penrith boys at CF are Brad's sons. He's an assistant coach. They are solid wrestlers but not D1 level.

West / Millage is right up there. Could be huge for the team race as well.

I was anti-wille after his talk about Iowa... but I'm over it. I pay for flo, it's good stuff. They are doing good things for wrestling. Anddd I actually don't think wille is a bad guy, just says what he thinks. Makes things interesting for sure.

Not saying that Cael has not had a great freshman year but Carter was like 154-1 in High School and only lost one match his freshman year when he was bumped up a weight against Wilton. Cael has lost 3 matches this year. Carter will always have him beat in less High School losses. Cael could still match him in state titles though.
What makes him better? He "already" (applying the term loosely) has more losses than Carter did his entire career.
Another one to keep an eye on is 3A 170. Marcus Coleman and Ben Sarrasin will wrestle in the semis. Coleman won 8-7 at Urbandale, the rematch should be good.
That sucks for Drew and also wrestling. I won't get into it but I think many of you know how the Biscoglia clan runs. I don't place all the blame on the kid, as his Dad is the biggest douche and what is wrong with parents of athletes (think PD2 and 3), suffice it to say with his undeniable talent but lack of college interest you can figure it out. See attitude issues, entitlement and prick Dad.
Holy crap.....I just watched that match and I did not see any parents on the mat. Whatever happened in the past is done. Bennet was 2-0 against Biscoglia this year. All I saw was the Bicoglia kid win fair and square. That is why these are wrestled by the kids and not the parents.
Sounds like Biscoglia caught Bennett in the 1st period after an escape and gave him a 3-2 edge going into the 2nd period which dictated the rest of the match. Bennett got an escape in the 2nd but couldn't score a takedown and the pressure was on him then into the 3rd. Needed to release Biscoglia and score a takedown and couldn't finish.
Sounded like a typical match that Iowa wrestlers drop when they lose to guys they shouldn't have lost to.
