IA High School Brackets are up on Track

How s
Brands made a mistake not going neutral in 3rd.

Agree that Brands should have took neutral......Very impressed with the ride Yant put on Brands.....not sure I've ever seen anyone do a somersault prior to attempting a TD like Yant did at the end of the match. Crazy thing is he almost pulled it off. Have to love HS wrestling!!

Cael wrestled a more difficult schedule and has dominated the top ranked 1A kids in a way that Carter didn't do as a freshman. Cael is probably one of the most attacking wrestlers in the state tournament regardless of class or age. I think he will break many of Carter's school records.

He may break many records but there will always be at least 8 guys w less losses in their careers than Cael including Carter. If he continues at current pace he will have a shot at Max Thompsens all time wins. Also not likely that he will ever catch up to winningest percentage even if he never loses again in HS.

Cael is going to TF or pin every opponent in the state tournament. Carter had 2 decisions, including winning in sudden victory OT his freshman year. Cael has dominated the top 1A guys. Have you watched them wrestle in person?

His 3 opponents have 10 losses on the season, finals opponent has 7. Kid is good but is the 6-8 range of 13lbers in the state. To be fair there are 3 nationally ranked kids in there.

Cael has already wrestled a tougher schedule than his brother ever did. He ran into Bennett and Pritchard and got hammered. Cael gets 4th in 3A this year and Carter would've never been a 4 time if he was in 2A or 3A his freshman year. Koethe and Doug Miner would've handled him at 120 his freshman year.

Plus Cael lost to a kid from CBC in St. Louis who is in Missouri's 4A finals tonight. Looking at Cael's schedule, there seemed to be more 3A kids on there than 1A.

I am a fan of both kids and have seen more of Carter than Cael.
I hope nothing but luck to either kid. Unfortunately you can not undo what has already happened. The records in the Iowa stat book do not have asteriks for having wrestled more 3A or tougher opponents. All it shows are all time win leaders with greater than 160 wins.
As I said Cael can still end up at the top of that list but his brother and at least 7 others will have him beat with less losses or a higher winning percentage.

Not a Lombardi or Wriedt fan but the refs just stole a championship from Rocky Lombardi. That was an oil check by a blind ref. No lube on that call. That was pathetic. Wriedt went before the whistle and Lombardi gets called for the stall. Someone explain that one because I don't get it....
