Scott Dochterman on an important fact: 100

There is no greater predictor for an Iowa outcome the last five years than the final tally of rushing yards. When the Hawkeyes reach 100 yards rushing, they are 45-4. When they don’t, they are 2-15.

Last year, Iowa was 9-0 when it crossed that barrier and 1-3 when it didn’t. The only sub-100-yard victory in 2019 came against Illinois. The only other one over the last five years was against Mississippi State in the Outback Bowl to cap the 2018 season.

Three of the four losses with 100-plus rush yards came in 2018. Against Wisconsin and Purdue, the Hawkeyes lost the lead inside the final minute. At Penn State, a subpar passing day (18 of 49) cost Iowa in a six-point loss. Against Florida in the 2017 Outback Bowl, the Hawkeyes rushed for 171 yards and passed for 55.
