If Iowa, Wisky & Northwestern all have 2 losses, tiebreaker?

http://btn.com/big-ten-football-division-tiebreakers/

Is this the most updated one? If so it looks like #4 may hurt us Wisky & Northwestern both played Mich & Rutgers and are 1-1 against them but if Wisky beats PSU that hurts us against them. Looks like Iowa needs Wisky to lose again and Iowa to win out.

Wisky looked bad on Saturday. Half the defense is out and on their 2nd string qb. Taylor was held to 46 yds rushing. They could easily lose again, maybe a couple of times.

Win out and you would think PSU beats Bucky, thereby taking care of the three-way tie. That said, we can't have Nate $hitting the bed again.

It’s head to head first. Wisconsin beat Iowa,

if it's a three-way tie, which if we win out, it would be (all of us with 2-conference loses) and you'd have the "circular beatings" cancelling that out: Bucky beat us, we beat NW, and NW beat Bucky.

We all thought this PSU game was a loss on paper anyways. The fact that they tried to give it to us and we couldn’t accept it doesn’t change the fact that most of us were counting on two conference losses. If that is enough to win the West, great! If not we will enjoy the Holiday Bowl, and maybe get a winnable bowl game.

This is not like 2010 where we have the horses to make a splash nationally. I love em but they aren’t that good. Maybe next year they will be.

Say that the good/great Stanley showed up early and often from now on, say we continue to find ways of get Sargent the ball as a runner and receiver out of the back field and he continues to improve, consider Brandon Smith keeps improving, and we continue to develop a more aggressive passing attack with Smith, Easley and Marsette in addition to Noah and TJ, consider the O Line continues to improve each game. If we win out, with this progress, do you think that team would be good enough?

I'm not ready to say this team is as good as it can be this year, they still have a significant up side, in my opinion.

Correct. And as others have pointed out, Wisky could loose more than once. So the question is, can we beat Purdue and NU (and the other things). Very possible. Go Hawks!

I put up a pretty comprehensive summary here from the Northwestern perspective (which covers the UW and Iowa perspective quite well).

https://northwestern.forums.rivals....hinations-and-tie-breakers.40914/#post-564692

Bottom line for Iowa:

1) Beat Purdue this weekend or it’s all over.
2) Hope Wisconsin gets beat by Penn State and/or Purdue.
3) Beat Northwestern.
4) Win the rest including a pesky/improving Nebraska team.

If you win out (and beat Northwestern) and Northwestern beats Illinois and Minnesota and Wisconsin also wins out, you need to win the 3-way (7-2) tie breaker that gives me a headache.

NU>UW
UW>Iowa
Iowa>NU (if you beat the nerds)

The 3-way tie breaker in this scenario gets really complicated. NU’s win over Michigan Sate looms large. However, Iowa’s win over Maryland could be huge.

NU and UW lost to UM. Iowa lost to PSU. Nobody in the west plays OSU except Purdue. You need to beat Purdue anyway (sending them to 6-3)... In any regard, root for Maryland, Penn State, and Indiana (teams you played) and root against Michigan, Michigan State and Rutgers. (Ohio State matters not.)

The nerds at Northwestern are watching your game against Purdue closely. If you lose that game, Northwestern can lose to you guys in two weeks and will still go to Indy if they beat Minny and Illinois... Break a leg!
