If we want to compete, our ONLY option is to add $10 to each ticket to go towards NIL.

That would raise about $3million to $4million per year NIL. Tennessee just started that for their 100,000 seat stadium.

Our recruiting is very pedestrian based on poor NIL. Otherwise, we’ll remain mired in mediocrity.
Interesting thought but I thought the schools themselves were separate from NIL. That NIL comes from external sources from the Univ and Athletic dept. But now the schools can pay players so the money you mention could be used to help pay players.

I hope someone who knows about this ever changing payments money scheme can tell us if raising money thru ticket sales can go to NIL or not vs the school just paying players out of an Athl Dept fund

Could there be a caveat that only a small percentage of funds go to Pottery Barn recruits for basketball? Oh wait, no one goes to Carver anymore, so never mind.

Don’t you think this was true before NIL, though? I mean it’s not like Fran putting out a swim team on the basketball court just started in the era of NIL.

With the amount of money the university gets from ticket and merch sales, they need to find a way to get that into the NIL. They should donate it to some random person, then have them put that into the Swarm. Don't care if that's against the rules, everyone else cheats too.

I have no comment about how NIL can and can’t be used. All I know is, as predicted, it has been and will continue to be abused horribly.

Is that legal?
Sure, you can charge whatever you want for a ticket but I wouldn’t think they could put more towards NIL than the agreed upon $22 million or whatever figure that was.

I believe that the original poster is talking about something different than NIL. NIL is name-image-likeness. The other issue is the House settlement where athletes will be paid and it'll come from the university. I believe that it is tied to the 105 limit.

And I agree with the original poster that it's a good idea.

Basketball recruiting has by and large been dog shit over the years. Now, only money talks.

I don’t think that would be allowed.

Should be $40 a seat add on for the season. Yes I would pay it with mine. I already do basically with Swarm membership.
