If you played Michigan this week

Would we beat Michigan State if we played them this weekend?

Same answer for both.......yes.

P.S. Not sure what else you were expecting with this thread of yours.

Unfortunately I think Iowa has few more things to work on before they get more consistent with the Offense. That being said Iowa is an unpredictable team, not in scheme or plays, but from week to week you never know what team will show up. Iowa is capable of winning games that nobody expects them to win.

Maybe, maybe not. Iowa still doesn't have a quality win yet. Came close against Penn St, but still got smacked when you look at total yards. We struggled to pull away from Illinois for a good chunk of the game. I'm inclined to say Michigan would beat us right now.

There isn't a team in the country that I'd say Iowa is going to beat. Flip side of that is there's not a team in the country that I'd say Iowa has no chance to beat. Now, the thing is it has been this way for about 18 years. No game is a given either way with KF and his philosophy, and when Iowa plays the best teams I like this a lot!

It sounds weird, but the Iowa State game is looking more and more like a quality win. ISU is ranked 33rd in the Sagarin rankings and 34th in ESPN's FPI. They're ranked ahead of teams like Florida, Oregon, Louisville, West Virginia, Kansas State, and South Carolina. None of those teams are world beaters this year, but if we went on the road and won against anyone of those teams I think we'd consider it a quality win.

With that said, I agree with you inclination that Michigan would win.

Similar to Dantonio--both normally have less talent on paper than the big dogs but their style of coaching usually leads to close games in the 4th. Difference is MSU has been able to pull some of those close games out in recent history vs the big dogs and Iowa has come up a bit short.

Hope you guys beat Wisconsin this year.

Just want to make sure I understand...you think we’d have a chance against Bama?

I agree Ferentz teams play to the level of their competition, but most years there are still 1-2 teams out there we’d have absolutely no chance against.

No pro style team stands a chance vs Bama

Yes, I would say Iowa would have about a 5-10% chance of beating Alabama. I know that sounds crazy, but I do believe it. I would also expect the point spread to be something like Alabama -16.5 although I didn't check anything before writing this.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on this one. For comparison, Tennessee is a 36 point dog heading to Tuscaloosa this Saturday. I’d put a hypothetical Iowa-UT game as a toss-up right now.
