Illegal Immigrant Raped 10-year-old girl in Ohio that had the Abortion in Indiana

Well it has to be measurably better than the slipshod sections that were blowing down in a stiff breeze under DJT's watch, or stealing well intentioned Americans' monies like Bannon and other DJT associates did.

Yay Team Red!

We'll eventually finish the wall,... and once it's there your team will leave it in place because it will be too much of a border control asset to tear down.

Sure, sure. Good thing that humans aren't very inventive or creative when they have a goal in place, they'll just turn around and go back home when faced by a wall.

We continue to focus on the supply side of the illegal immigration problem instead of addressing the demand problem on our side of the border, which is the only effective way to address it. Take away the incentive to come over the border outside the system, but monied interests are not allowing that to happen.

That will be addressed as well,.. as will the overstaying of entrance visas.

LOL

The fragments of border wall built during the Trump administration were physically breached more than 3,000 times between 2019 and 2021.

An investigation by The Washington Post found that Customs and Border Protection spent $2.6 million to repair 3,272 such breaches in that time period.

The Trump administration in 2017 held a design contest to choose the final ideation for former President Trump’s signature construction project, and ultimately built a series of prototypes in a location near San Diego.

Administration officials ultimately chose a design with 18 30-foot-tall steel bollards cemented into the ground, joined at the top by a steel beam.

Upon completion of the first segments, videos quickly surfaced of smuggling groups using common power tools to cut the bollards near the bottom of the wall, easily swinging them out of the way to cross the border.

Well, Trump certainly left the border locked down after his presidency. I mean he got so much stuff through, no one ever got over the border. Then Biden took over and Kamala apparently reversed it all in a couple of years.
The border may go down as Biden's biggest failure. There is a good article in the NY Times about all the infighting among his staff and how he lost it and exclaimed "Who do I need to fire to fix this?" Somehow he managed to anger both the right and the left at the same time with what has happened there. Several staff members have left due to this issue. Here is a bit of the article.

WASHINGTON — President Biden was livid.

He had been in office only two months and there was already a crisis at the southwest border. Thousands of migrant children were jammed into unsanitary Border Patrol stations. Republicans were accusing Mr. Biden of flinging open the borders. And his aides were blaming one another.

Facing his bickering staff in the Oval Office that day in late March 2021, Mr. Biden grew so angry at their attempts to duck responsibility that he erupted.

Who do I need to fire, he demanded, to fix this?

Mr. Biden came into office promising to dismantle what he described as the inhumane immigration policies of President Donald J. Trump. But the episode, recounted by several people who attended or were briefed on the meeting, helps explain why that effort remains incomplete: For much of Mr. Biden’s presidency so far, the White House has been divided by furious debates over how — and whether — to proceed in the face of a surge of migrants crossing the southwest border.

Senior aides have been battling one another over how quickly to roll back the most restrictive policies and what kind of system would best replace them.

Now, Mr. Biden finds himself the target of attacks from all sides: Immigration activists accuse him of failing to prioritize the human rights of millions of immigrants. Conservatives have pointed to surges of migrants at the border as evidence that the president is weak and ineffective. And even some moderate Democrats now fear that lifting Trump-era border restrictions could hurt them politically.

Officials from the Department of Homeland Security expect record numbers of migrants to cross the border this summer, just months ahead of the midterm elections that will determine control of Congress and help shape the arc of Mr. Biden’s presidency for the next two years.

This account of the Biden administration’s handling of the border over the past 15 months is based on interviews with 20 current and former officials, lawmakers and activists, most of whom requested anonymity to discuss private deliberations.

the indiana ag is trying to play catch up with the ohio ag

There's going to be a lot of twitter sensationalism on this particular situation but at the end of the day I think the point of contention is going to be reporting it. The doctor had an obligation to report it.

I don't think the doctor should lose their license or face any adverse action in this terrible situation....but it has to be reported for what I think are pretty good reasons.

Attorney for doctor who performed 10-year-old's abortion sends cease-and-desist to AG Todd Rokita

An attorney for Dr. Caitlin Bernard sent a cease-and-desist letter Friday to Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita citing comments he made regarding Bernard on Fox News Channel Wednesday night.
"Your false and defamatory statements to Fox News on July 13, 2022, cast Dr. Bernard in a false light and allege misconduct in her profession," Kathleen DeLaney, the attorney representing Bernard, wrote in the letter to Rokita.
A spokesperson for Rokita's office wrote in an email that the letter will be reviewed when it arrives but "no false or misleading statements have been made."
Bernard is an Indianapolis obstetrician-gynecologist who provided care to a 10-year-old rape victim from Ohio. The story garnered international attention after IndyStar wrote about the child.

Rokita made an appearance on Fox News Channel where he said his office was looking into whether Bernard met reporting requirements.
“We're gathering the evidence as we speak, and we're going to fight this to the end, including looking at her licensure,” Rokita said on the “Jesse Watters Primetime” show. "If she failed to report it in Indiana, it's a crime for — to not report, to intentionally not report.”

The attorney general also claimed that Bernard has “a history of failing to report,” as a part of his roughly 2-minute appearance. Rokita did not offer any evidence to support his claims.
He released a statement Thursday reiterating his speculation about whether reporting requirements had been followed, and said he was "investigating this situation." He also said there may be further action if a HIPAA violation occurred, meaning patient information was improperly shared. He did not offer evidence of that claim.
The attorney's letter states that Bernard complied with her reporting duties in the case. Through a public records request and subsequent documents, IndyStar found Bernard filed a form with the Indiana Department of Health and the Department of Child Services disclosing the child's abortion and abuse. That form was released by the state to IndyStar late Thursday.

"We are especially concerned that, given the controversial political context of the statements, such inflammatory accusations have the potential to incite harassment or violence from the public which could prevent Dr. Bernard, an Indiana licensed physician, from providing care to her patients [sic] safely," DeLaney wrote.
IU Health released a statement Friday stating Bernard, who is a physician there, did not violate any privacy laws under HIPAA.
"IU Health conducted an investigation with the full cooperation of Dr. Bernard and other IU Health team members. IU Health’s investigation found Dr. Bernard in compliance with privacy laws," according to the statement.
Prosecutors in Ohio have charged Gerson Fuentes, 27, with rape after he allegedly told police he raped the 10-year-old girl on two occasions. He was arrested Tuesday.
Columbus police said they were made aware of the girl's pregnancy June 22 after her mother reported it to Franklin County Children Services. She received the abortion in Indianapolis June 30.

The doctor reported everything in accordance with law. Indiana's AG is grandstanding and looks like he has been lying to the media as to what he has known all along. He just may get sued over this and I hope he is.

Republican AG sending a message to doctors that even if some abortions are "legal" they better not preform them.
There should be severe penalties (inclusive of 3-6 months jail time) for falsely reporting any "doctor misconduct", particularly if you were never a patient. That's kind of a slam dunk.

Physicians should sue for libel over this.
