Illini pick up Alfonso Plummer

Likely at or nearing the point where Fran scraps the pursuit of a 5 and goes after the best scorer he can find regardless of position. Not sure any big in the portal that Fran has any chance to land is going to be an appreciable upgrade from whatever combo of Josh, Mulvey, Kris / Keegan Murray. If JW leaves, the only proven returning scorers are CJ (nagging foot/ leg injury) and Keegan. If Fran goes 0-portal, I think the likelihood of a Jbo return increases dramatically.

Anyone know about Joe Hedstrom from WI? 7'0 , 245. I can't recall seeing him get any PT. Was he hurt?
Hedstrom would be a waste of a scholarship for Iowa. I think it’s going to take some work for him to be impactful even at the mid-major level

You’re welcome! Not sure how you could think next year’s Hawks team is at a point where you could laugh at Illinois’ spot on the pecking order, but it’s Saturday and maybe you’re also day drinking. Good luck with the portal, shouldn’t be hard to get a way better pickup than our scrub!
Doesn't the Illini have a message board? Asking for a friend.

Lol. I was being facetious.
Really?
😉

CMac will have to prove his worth next year without Luka. Whether he can do that is yet to be seen BUT those who already are saying that he'll fail are assuming a lot. Let's see where this team ends up next year before selling them short.

Cockburn is supposedly going to enter the NBA draft
Good news for us, saw far too many of his dunks this season. We would have absolutely no answer for him next season as well.... I know some (most?) don't care for IL info, but I would rather hear about what our fellow BT rivals are up to (esp. during off peak forum time) rather than the usual myriad of ISU/Clown posts.....🤡

Plummer averaged 14 in the Pac12. 96th percentile in catch and shoot. 56% on open threes. 76th percentile defensively. 7th best in Pac12 in fewest turnovers. Set a Pac12 record for most threes in a game. 11 threes against Oregon State. He is from Puerto Rico and wanted to play with Curbelo. Good pickup for off the bench.

a 6'1" shooting guard that averages 1 assist and 2 rebounds per game and is not strong defensively? I hope Illinois isn't planning on starting him. I mean I assume Curbelo and Frazier would start. If you started all 3 you might have the shortest team in the Big Ten.

Also HALOL at whoever has a metric that ranks him as "76th percentile defensively". He literally ranked as the worst defender by BPM on a Utah team that was very bad defensively. Worst defender on a bad defense. Let that soak in for a minute. Doesn't get defensive rebounds, steals, or block shots nor is he tall enough to even influence most shots.

He is a short guy that spaces the floor with good shooting and offers little else (no playmaking or rebounding or defending).
