Which job is better, Indiana or Illinois? Both have recruiting advantages. Indiana has to compete with Notre Dame, Purdue, and Butler for in-state recruits. Illinois competes against "handlers" and to a lesser extent Notre Dame. I'd say Indiana is the better job.
We certainly would not want the level of success that Wisconsin has had or the level of success that Tony Bennett has brought to both teams he has coached. I would rather not make it to the NCAA Tournament or not make it out of the Round of 32- did I mention the lack of success in the BTT. Personally, I would love to see Iowa land a coach like Tony Bennett.
? Virginia 74 Iowa 41.
Which program Virginia or Iowa had the highest upside since the NIT show down?Damn it forgot about that one, was thinking of the NIT game five years ago.

So a Sweet 16, Round of 32, Elite Eight, and a 5 seed this year is a toss up with a First Four, Round of 32, Round of 32, and an #1 seed in the NIT?That's a toss up
I think many are basing it on the tipping point of how much money Illinois is purportedly willing to throw at him. 4.8 million per is going to weigh heavy on that scale. Why would people just assume Tony Bennett would want to leave Virginia? He has plenty of resources there to take a team to be successful.

74-41 is embarrassing.Don't care... do not want to watch that style of ball. Embarrassing.

I hear you, style over results.Yes... 74 is the best they can put up? Brutal basketball even if it wins.
I hear you, style over results.![]()
I'll take Fran over Bennett all day, for playing style alone. I also think Iowa is about to start winning a lot.Yahoo reporting Illinois going to offer Tony Bennett $4.8 million a year.
Be a great move. It's is who Iowa should have targeted and hired years ago.
He would be a natural in the Big Ten.
I have never found success and winning to be boring- getting to cheer on my team deep into the NCAA Tournament can be quite exhilarating. But that is probably just me.Yep that's just me... basketball is supposed to be fun not put me to sleep.

After Lickliter, I want no part of a slowed down game. Sorry. We certainly would not want the level of success that Wisconsin has had or the level of success that Tony Bennett has brought to both teams he has coached. It's not just annual total. The length of the guarantee and the provisions of the buyout may be even more important.I think many are basing it on the tipping point of how much money Illinois is purportedly willing to throw at him. 4.8 million per is going to weigh heavy on that scale.

I am sorry but trying to compare Lick's style with that of Tony Bennett is really weak. I would like to cheer on what is considered an elite team and the only way to get there is by winning games against top competition and getting hosed 74-41 against Tony "Lickliter" Bennett is embarrassing- especially when you consider that Iowa beat Virginia in the NIT back in 2013. Of course, since then Virginia has risen to the next level while Fran's "fun" style has gotten Iowa back to the NIT. I get it, most of you would rather have style over results. After Lickliter, I want no part of a slowed down game. Sorry.
