The one thing that concerns me about Illinois they jack up like 40 threes a game. So if you face them and they get hot from three, then you're in for a dog fight.
Injuries or not, that thumping is inexcusable. But please, keep Groce! I don't want to see our neighbors from the east in here bragging about how now that they got rid of the guy they never liked in the first place....yada, blah, blah...
We are well past seeing the pattern aren't we? Unsettled lineups (injuries or not) and hero ball all game long.

Our fan base is in complete meltdown mode and rightfully so. I NEVER thought I'd see Illini basketball this bad. Ever.

Most sports go through cycles except for a few programs and then they too, do from time to time. Look at UCLA in basketball and USC, Texas, Nebraska, Alabama pre-Saban in Football. I can remember Iowa football in the 60's and 70's pre-Hayden Fry. Iowa basketball just 7-10 years ago. The thing with Illinois is that if they get it turned around their state is full of talent year after year and it won't take them long to be full throttle again.
They can't even get administrators or board of regents members that know what the hell they are doing. Until they can figure that out no quality coach is going to come near an Illinois job and any young up and comer is going to jump ship at the first school that waves a high 6 or 7 figure contract at him.
They need to return to the Lou Henson glory days and start paying recruits and their parents and coaches again.
Someone should post on their board that they should fire Groce and hire

I cannot imagine Groce is brought back. Probably time for them to go after a big name (maybe Utah guy if WI does not land him) .

On a more serious note, I'm loving seeing the Illini fall so hard. The best part is, there's no light at the end of the tunnel right now. Not with that administrative situation. And not with the systemic corruption that reaches all aspects of Illinois governance.
The only thing that may save him is that they don't have an AD right now correct? Might get away with another year like the little ferret up in Minneapolis
