Illinois just got a PG commitment . what does this mean for Moore, others?

It will mean nothing as he is a 5th year transfer, one and done!

Moore wii be a Sr. in HS next year, which will be the final year of eligibity for Lewis!

F--- you ParkerHawk!

It should mean "something" to Moore. It means Illinois is not going to work to develop another guy into a point, as they plan on handing the reins to the injured player (name escapes me) when he returns next year. If Charlie wants a year of sitting and watching then he should go to Illinois. If he would like to play then Iowa is where he should hang his hat.

I don't think this would or should mean anything to him, since the guy will be gone anyway and Abrams's injury situation isn't any different today than it was yesterday.

On another note, however, Illinois also offered Donovan Jackson today, so the amount of point guard offers they have out for 2016 probably does mean something, in addition to the offers they have out to targeted 2017 and 2018 point guards.

Yes the guy will be gone but the fact they took a one year guy proves they have plans to reinstate Abrams when he returns from injury. Moore could watch that happen from the bench.

Um, no, it doesn't. It only proves that they felt they needed another point guard for this year.

They have chosen a transfer over moving over a 2 and playing him at the point. They expect Abrams back front and Center and he will be the starting pg next year. It seems pretty clear to me.

So what you all are saying is that even with Lewis being a 1 year guy, IL will have the same number of PGs on their roster next year as Iowa. One (Abrams at IL, Williams at Iowa).

Yes, I get the difference being an incumbent starter who has been injured and a RS/FR or SO with little PT. But the point is, both teams already have a PG on the roster.

I've always felt a little bad for Jaylon Tate. He must be way out of his league as the last two seasons people barely knew he was even on the team. But today, my heart really goes out to him. A former 3* point guard, played for Simeon, and no one ever seems to remember him. :( He played 20 mpg last year and his assists/turnovers....92/45.

Which makes 100% good sense. Don't read anything more into it than that.

Jaylon Tate is going to start. If you read the article linked to the tweet in the OP's post, the transfer averaged something like 6 points and 2.2 assists last year for LaSalle, with 1.6 turnovers per game (37% from the floor, 33% from three). I think that the transfer is more an indication about how Groce felt about with depth with Tracy Abrams out.

Yes, and that will leave Gross with Abrams and Tate next year.

I am not very good at math but that would make Moore the #3 guy, would it not?

That sounds like pretty good math to me. A freshman verses two seniors? Kind of like if he showed up at Iowa this year. It seems to me your point to Charlie was a good one.

There's no guarantee that Abrams would get that 6th year. Odds are it would happen, but there's a slight chance it doesn't.

As for Jaylon Tate, he simply cannot shoot. His statistics are horrendous. Teams realized this in the B1G and just sagged off him and collapsed the defense. It really puts the Illini at a disadvantage on offense. He is much more of a pass first PG compared to Abrams.

Either Charlie Moore or Xavier Simpson would be a huge get. But it seems like Moore may be holding out a little to see if the blue bloods come calling.
