I'm very encouraged

Our guys seemed confident and PISSED OFF from the get go.... And I like it.

Going to channel my inner Kirk Ferentz and not get too excited about a good showing in a tough environment. Don't get too high and don't get too low.

Encouraging effort for sure.

If the Hawks could do ONE thing, contain the ball, honest to goodness this is a sweet 16 team.

Of course we know that's asking a lot under this coach, so we'll see what happens.

Deep team though with a lot of good pieces, including what will be the best PG play in the Fran era

Young guys got some very good experience tonight as well. And they hung in there about as well as you could hope for
The freshman cut the lead from 17 to 9 at one point. I think it got back up to 13 or something by the time starters came back in. 18 points scored by the freshman.

We don't have any particular method for defending ball screens and that's been a consistent thing every year since Adam Woodbury graduated.

What Iowa does looks a lot like what you'd see in a pick up game.

They were getting by on pure hustle with their rotations in the first half but it was all pretty chaotic.

Questionable in game decisions once again by Fran. However with how many new faces and especially TrFr that are heavily relied on, yes I agree very encouraging. There will definitely be some growing pains this season. I am excited to watch this teams growth.

Young guys need to figure out rebounding. Team really needs Perkins to step into the star player role and be consistent. When he is on he can be the best player on the court and the game moves with him.

We missed a ton of open 3s and jumpers and yes too many second chance points for Creighton. Lost by 8 on the road to the #8 team.

Wowza! I’m the complete opposite.

This team looked sooooft. And that’s crazy to say because all of Fran’s teams are soft.

I think this will be a frustrating year that ends with a NIT bid.

The B1G is extremely weak but nothing below 6th place is a guaranteed NCAA bid & I think we end up below 6th.

You serious Clark?

I think we will see our mettle when we play OU on Thanksgiving...

We came out strpng and not a bit intimidated on a tough road venue

Ben carried us on offense...scalding hot. Took awhile for anyone else to score...Payton did help out.

The young Colts looked promising altho Pryce did not get in a flow much but did not hurt us.
Ladji and Owen looked good.
Shocking shooting touch by Ladji from arc.
Owen runs the court great, showed good hands, and handle. He is going to be hard to keep off the floor eith his defensive a activity vs Ben.
Brock looked quick w good handle.
His shooting is as advertised...not his strength. Passing solid and did not look as tiny as I feared. But CU pgs were small also so that helped.

Tony started slow but caught his groove later. We need him to be our alpha. I wish he had just pulled up from distance on that last key possession where he passed to Sandy for a bad shot in the corner.
Oppo knows we look for Sandy late, we need to diversify.

Dix defended well vs their shooter but did not find his shot.
Bowen looked stronger w ball and handle but needs to shoot better.

Overall a good effort but not sure it will not be a season full of close losses due to defense.

I think 9th in BIG is realistic.
We could have some good upsets at home.
Should be entertaining. But winning is the ultimate goal and defense is necessary for that.

Outrebounded, Creighton made more FT's than we attempted. Almost zero inside game. Otherwise it was fun to watch. Honestly looked like a different team than in the past

I am also encouraged. A lot of things that can be changed in a few weeks. Krikke(?) kept running out to defend someone way out there, then the guy fakes and runs in right by him for a lay up. Don't really need a 6'9 guy our defending a LONG 3pt shot. Ladji also needs to adjust his defense and not get faked out.
I think Alexander is REALLY fast - he was driving the length of the court and perkins couldn't keep up just running beside him.
I don't think Perkins is the answer - he has really good games and then some not very good stretches. Seemed with the freshman mistakes cleaned up with experience, a lot of them should play a lot!

I like this team a lot. Creighton played a perfect 2nd half and we hung right in. Lots of nice pieces on this team. Some good wins available this month in a holiday tournament. Go get em boys!
Agree - this game exceeded my expectations for this year's team. I was hoping for a 500 team in the Big Ten and with it appearing to be a down year for the league, maybe better than that now.

Have you watched any other Big Ten teams play? Purdue clear number 1. Sparty off to another slow start but probably 2nd. Michigan looks better than expected. After that we are as good or better than any other team. Maryland is down, Penn St is terrible, Rutgers already has a bad loss. Illinois lost at home to a good Marquette team but it was at home. Indiana has really struggled. Wisconsin looked like dogshit last night. There’s no way we’re finishing 9th.

Iowa gets picked to finish 9th every year and it never happens.

Somewhere between 3 - 7

That's because Kakbrener is probably the best interior defender in the country.

Iowa was well aware of his shot blocking and didn't try to challenge him much.

That won't be something they see again.

Encouraging yes but Creighton's similar style of play kind of hid the warts in Fran's system. When they play a team that forces the Hawks to grind it out/score in the 1/2 court we'll see how they respond.
