I'm wiped out

It really is a lot. I'm sure everyone had fun and were impressed by your spikes.
Special red and green christmas spikes. :)

They appreciated that I had good booze available. :)

The tamales were great, and i bake some good peanut butter blossom cookies.

I think everyone had a good time - esp the kids. Just taxing to be constantly on the move warming things, filling things, etc etc.

Wife got me one of those bird feeders that ids the bird and sends you a photo. Might put it up at Tahoe.
That would be cool. I didn't get one of those. Might need to get myself one though!

Seems like there was a better variety of birds in Virginia though - more types of finches, woodpeckers, etc. Mostly just sparrows and mourning doves here, with Cardinals and blue jays mixed in.

I had a houseful last night. Finished cleaning the kitchen after 11PM and I was also wiped out.
Went to my nieces for Christmas dinner and enjoyed myself. They had a tenderloin of beef that was fantastic. Helped clear the table and had a snooze.
Another Christmas in the books.
A couple years ago, my M-I-L took a nap on the couch after a great holiday meal. We laid a wine bottle in her arms and took pics. I love the holidays.

Hosted family at the casa.

Everyone just left.

Playing host is hard work.

Next year I may suggest going away for Christmas.

You know there is a simple solution to hosting. If you do a crappy job, you don't have to do it again (just kidding). If you do it right, it is a lot of hard, but hopefully your guests appreciated the effort. We host every other year, so we get a break, plus, it is only about 10 people. I grilled steaks and bacon wrapped shrimp so it was not too much work.

Already suggested going away next year to the no pic and got "the look".

I don't mind hosting, but as you said it's hard work. I don't mind the dance of refilling, cooking, setting up, etc. It's the clean up that sucks. No pic makes a homemade fruit dip, we left out and the grandkids found it. I'll have to get the rug doctor out because half the bowl is stuck to the carpeting.

I think the worst part so far this morning, is the house still smells like prime rib. We do the burn and cool method so smokes up the house pretty good. Turned out a perfect rare/med rare but damn is still smells.

Taking break and then it's off to start the rest of the house.
